Not a typo.

How about 5)bound, mound, round?

Murf's answer makes sense...if there was a typo in the puzzle.
Perhaps "tried" was supposed to be "tied." I knew "sound" was a stretch, but couldn't come up with any other word that rhymed with "mound" and meant "tried." (I was thinking of "sound" as a synonym of "tried-and-true.") Stan |

I was thinking of "bound" as in "bound over for trail".

Murf is correct.
Nice job. ~John |

What does "bound over for trail" mean?
And how is it a synonym for "tried"? John, Would you please compare your clues for #5 with your Battaglia source and verify that "tried" (rather than "tied") is correct? |

Stanalger,
The word should be "tied", not "tried". Therefore the answer word that corresponds to "tied" is "bound". Pat Battaglia |

Looks like one of my messages got lost in the ether.
"Bound over for trail" was a typo --- I was trying to say "Bound over for TRIAL." Murf |
