I got Sankey's 3 ring, it's ok.I like the idea of them being so good for very close up work. But the dvd they came with is very weak for a routine. I have been playing with them, but still having a little trouble coming up with a routine. That builds on to itself where each link is better than the one before. Does anyone have these and any help would be great..

The advice I would give you is to toss the whole thing in the trash and get the Ninja Rings routine. Kudos for you for admitting the routine stinks. I've been saying that for years but people keep buying it because "hey, it's sankey".
if a real rings routine does not suit your character or style perhaps look at something that is well thought out like : Pindemonium by Dan Garrett The website you purchased it from should have let you know in advance that the trick stunk. Did you ask about it before you bought?

I use them and like any magic effect the best routines are the one the performer creates himself.
I have to disagree with Frank's position on this one. I did purchase my set from him and he offered me a chance to change my mind before ordering. I found the trick to be very effective. When you buy a trick only the most basic beginners use the routine that comes with the instruction sheet, you shouldn't treat the video instruction any different than the paper instructions. Take time to study different ring routines and apply the performance concept to this effect.

I let you buy that trick?
You're right. Any trick can be wonderful but for the price of the DVD and what was included, compared to the thoughtful work done on a similar piece of magic (ninja rings) it was an embarassing product to put out. Or should have been.

Embarrassing, indeed....I was sold when the ad said "completely examinable"...

Ha! I have used these for funsies tons of times. If you can't get away without these being completely examinable you're definitely doing something wrong!
I found that this worked well for me whilst performing close up. A simple yet effective routine. I wouldn't say it stunk. Perhaps not the most amazing routine on the planet, but far from stink! You seriously can't switch out the gimmick and have enough solid patter to keep your audience guessing? Then what help will the ninja rings give you? Luke |

I didn't have a problem with the switching part. whenever I read "everything is completely examinable" I always take it to mean... "almost everything is eventually examinable".
it was just a routine that was not very well thought out. just slapped together to sell another DVD. unlike earplugs which supposedly had extra ideas, this had no extra ideas so he added some card tricks at the end. that should tell you all you need to know about how thorough the project was. and if that wasn't enough, the included props were notoriously poorly constructed. perhaps a nice $9 DVD. But that's about it. Too many other DVDs are really well put together, with much more material being taught for much less money. That was my point. Again, I could care less about the switching.

I liked the idea of having this as a pocket ninja rings set, but it didn't have nearly the same effect. I now use this as a "quickie" if it's not hidden in my junk drawer somewhere :X

I like the key rings much more. I DO perform the normal linking rings, I even do it with hula hoops, but still love the key rings. Everybody can relate to a time in their life when they wanted to punch soembody by not being able to open the rings to slide a key on. Sure they are difficult to palm if you require doing that, but still it's a really fun routine. I'm sure you can do your regular linking rings routine with any set. I can do my stage rings routine with my regular metal set. Sure the best linking rings routines have been captured with the usual set, but it shouldn't turn anybody off. If you want the Sankey set and you are looking forward to it, then you will probably like it. If you have anything against it then you most likely will hate it. I'm a sankey junkie I guess. What I ABSOLUTELY HATED though, was SPOOKEY. YUCK!
