Hey all...just thought I'd post the new picture I'm thinking of using for my business card. I edited out back ground, and it looks great on a smaller scale.
Your thoughts?? Steve http://i97.photobucket.com/albums/l231/m......0141.jpg |

Hey guys...
Here's a business card I threw together really quick. Very similar to my current one, just with a different picture...thoughts and comments appreciated. http://i97.photobucket.com/albums/l231/m......33169182 -Steve |

Go to gotlogos.com, they make you a high quality professional logo for 25 bucks. My website sucks but because of the logo it at least has enough of a look to get me some gigs. Trust, me they do excellent work. It'll make your card look ten times better.
The picture works, I think it'd look nicer on a somewhat darker background. Obviously not a black but something a little darker. Eddie

please don't take this personally as I'm a great fan of your posts and I've learnt a lot from your insights in restuarant work and tales. but you look weird in that pic, now that's not a problem if I've seen you perform and you hand me your card as I know what a good magician you are, however if your cards left up in advertising places and ive never seen you perform and I see your card I would think you look cheesy and would I hire that? if you only hand your card when performing then not to worry but that's my opinion, please don't take offense as just my thoughts

Steve,
I'm going to contradict what I said in a previous post...but I think your cartoon looks better for the biz card. I don't like the new pic. Why not use a professional head shot of yourself?

You should seek out a professional to help you with your graphic arts needs.
After much soul searching about a signature, I decided not to have one.

Hello Steve:How are you my friend?
IMO photo's on Biz cards for Real Estate agents are fine. For Magical Entertainer's I really do not think they are necessary.[again that's just me] What is more important is conveying some basic information about your service...in a way that says something about who you are as a person.PM me and I will show you an example of a Biz card I have been using that I designed online for about $60.00 for 1000.Folks like it,and most importantly ...SAVE IT. Happy trails. Rich |

The LAST thing you want with your promotional material is to have it look like it was thrown together real quick. So many people think because they have some desktop publishing software and some clip art they are qualified to design a business card. The caricature you had wasn't bad, but SO MANY magicians, clowns, balloon guys, comedians use caricatures, why not do something different? Look around at other company logos and websites around where you work, not just magicians. Find out who did their design. That's exactly what I did. I had seen posters for our local Shakespeare festival and thought the designs were striking and very memorable. After finding the artist, I have a beautiful logo that gets a lot of compliments when I hand my card out. I will tell you that I paid a pretty penny for it, but you get what you pay for. You may want to PM Kyle Peron here on the Café'. In addition to being a very fine magician, he's also a top-notch graphic artist who does beautiful work. |

If I was to use a picture of my mug on a card I would stick the playing card to my fore head, then give the devious look.

Hi Steve,
I did graphics for many years before turning pro. I went to Parson's school of Design in NYC. If you want some help I offer my services to magicians and variety artist all over the world. Short advice, get a better picture, higher DPI shoot on a green screen background. and reverse the type and the photo. You shouldn't have a hard edge of the bottom of your photoshopped picture. Defeats the purpose of erasing the background. Your picture should bleed off the edge if that is what your looking for. Opposed to my performing rates I am only $20 per hour to create logos, graphics and printed materials. Just finished a project for Donna Nowak a well known face-painter, her ad is going to be running in Illusions magazine in England, face a body paint publication.
