Can anyone point me toward the original source for the following trick:
I'll describe the effect and not the method. Two aces are removed from the deck. The spectator selects a card from the deck and the card is lost. The magician squares up aces on top of the deck and hands the deck to the spectator. The magician waves the two face-up aces over the deck and the face-down selection appears between them. Thanks in advance. |

Are you wanting to know the origin of that specific trick or the sandwich plot in general?

I'm interested in this concept in particular, not the sandwich trick plot, generally. I want to know the origin or a source for the presentational angle of using two cards to wave over the deck and produce the selection between them.

If you shake the cards over the deck, will you cliam originality for shaking the cards? Stealing and sandwiching selected card on top of the deck is attributed to Edward Marlo. Max Maven, in one of Genii issue, has written Sandwich plot can be traced back to 19 centuary. Hideo Kato |
