I think a very sloppily said "hood-bore-shun" in the right context sounds very much like "abortion".

I agree. "Abortion", while not perfect, is a much better answer than
"neighborhood." (I didn't post "neighborhood" until we were provided
with the additional clue--a place.)

Could it be that the OP's mind was wandering and he was thinking of Nay Shun, and typed Shun instead of Nay in question 1 ?
