As entertaining as it is, I find that the audiences quickly get bored watching dice stacking. Other than managing loads, does anyone have any other effects to combine with dice stacking?

Check out Paul Gertner's book Steel and Silver. It has a routine using dice stacking. Besides this routine, there's other great stuff in it too.

Dice stacking is not so much a magic trick as it is a stunt. A piece of juggling that indicates skill on the part of the magician. Yes as a solo routine it could be quite boring since once you have revealed the stack for the first time the effect is basically over. Everything else, large die, picking them off the stack one at a time, etc. etc. is just more of the same, and can't compete with that initial surprise.
I use it as a finish for a routine based on a "famous dice game" (not true) called low spot. Place dice in cup shake them and dump them out. Counting the spots that show uppemost explaining that this game is played in clubs and bars (Taverns if you want to be a bit more classy - Pubs if you're British - hey the British are classy by nature ). Let the spectator play a round. Then announce I've learned a way to win almost every time. With that lay out the dice in a row, scoop, stack and say, "see I got a one!" The number one is uppermost on the top of the stack. While they are startled at this I load a small globe of the world. I used to get these as pencil sharpeners - not sure where you could get one now. Then, People have asked me where in the world I learned this, pick up the cup show the globe and point to someplace on the globe saying,"...why right here." There you go, quick effective, shows a modicum of skill while remaining entertaining. I claim no originality for the routine, it is basically gleaned from putting together pieces I've seen from others - but hey it works.
