In a walk around, table hopping routine, how many effects do you usually do? Also, should you use table space at restaurants, or should it be all in the hands?
Thanks in advance, Alex |

I would do at most 4 Alex. You want to keep it short and sweet. You don't want to take up too much of their time and you don't want them to be left cold by too short of a performance. I would go with an opener, a middle routine, and a closer. Possibly another middle routine depending on your audience. You want all the tricks to be powerful that way in the event that the table's food comes or they have to leave, etc. you want to be able to end right there and end with a lasting impression. Make everythiong count. And don't blow anything off in your act because it is only 3 or 4 minutes. Short time period, but make it quality.

Andrew pretty well covers it; good, solid advice.

Some times you might use the table..like if they have finish eating and they are having coffee. They should have the table cleaned up by then. I third Andrew's opinion.

Usually the people are at the table because they are eating, are waiting to eat, or have already eaten. I think it is unwise to perform when someone is eating a meal. Coffee, etc. are OK, but not during the meal. So the time gaps available for your effects are usually dictated to you. I'll stay as long as the time gap and fun level allows.
