Hey,
Is anyone familiar with the Jay Sankey's cups and balls routine in his book "Sankey Panky"? I hear there is a real BIG different loading technique. Thanks, any replies would be great. |

I've read through the routine a few times. It was too complex for me. I'd love to see a video performance of it to answer a few questions.

I'm intrigued by this 'BIG' difference in loading technique. After seeing such routines as Kent Gunn's and Tommy Wonder's, I have really grown fond of alternate loading methods.
Obviously I'm not asking you to tip anything, but how innovative would you say this is? I'm thinking of three major loading locations (pocket, body [lap, topit, clip], and pouch). They can't come from many other places, but any new method of retrieval that is also practical would be something I'm interested in hearing about. |

I heard from a friend a day ago that some of the loads (and apparently a fourth smaller cup) , actually are wedged into one cup. Although I'm really not familiar with the routine, but yes, I hear it is complex.

Oops, sorry if the post above this one was a bit too revealing.

Check out Reed McClintock's routine for alternate ideas on loading.
I think it's called Defiance II.

The loading techniques in Defiance II are excellent. The routine, itself, is somewhat confusing.

I haven't tried this, nor even read through all of it, but here is a brief description.
... begins along familiar lines, drawing inspiration from F Garcia's 5 ball routine. It soon radically departs from most of the established procedures. The balls begin to multiply and split until, at the conclusion, there are 16 balls of 7 different sizes (as well as a fourth cup) on the table. It is performed while standing.

Just a thought. Sankey has a tendency to delve deeply into something, and then stop at the first innovation. Sometimes all he wants is innovation, but not necessarily great innovation.
