I just came across to a very good card effect by Fred Kaps on Youtube:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SYh_vPGApbo Here he tries to do a trick, but everytime an unwanted card pops up, which leads to a hilarious effect. Does anyone perform this routine or has knowledge about it? I wonder whether it is on the market or published in any book.. Greets, Ray

Fred Kaps. My Favorite! I believe this was shot when he followed the Beatles on the Ed Sullivan show.

The link given by Chronica for the effect is not the version used by Fred Kaps.
Fred Kaps never sold his version. He adapted the original version from Fred Braue. You can find it in the book "Show stoppers with Cards" written by Hugard / Braue. The name of the effect stays the same. It's an excellent effect, which technically isn't very difficult to learn, BUT : You need to have excellent acting abilities to make this effect work and look entetaining to the audience. The "magician in trouble" plot is very difficult to bring over to an audience and a lot of people make the mistake by overacting too much. Cardini, Fred Kaps and Tommy Wonder were 3 of the most famous magicians with an excellent acting possibility. Oliver. |

It's a classic plot, though there are two very different effects called "The Homing Card". The origination of the plot being discussed was by Tenkai, and several versions are discussed in my book "Small But Deadly" in the latter half of the "Tricks You Can Count On" chapter. This is followed by a simple but effective version of mine called "Rough Return".
