Hi,
Is there any website that has any king of study that shows the probabilities of a specific card being selected by the spectator. P. Figueira |

I'd be happy to work out any statistic you were interested in (even the more complicated ones).
The one you're looking for seems rather basic though, the chance of a specific card being chosen from a deck of 52 playing cards is 1/52 or 0.0192307692. |

Maybe you mean the probability that a spectator will THINK of a particular card (eg. AS, QH has a high probability of being thought of)?

Thanks. That's it Sean. I want to know the probability (I don't know if this is the right term) that a spectator will THINK of a particular card.
'Probably' this has been studied but I couldn't find it although I googled it. |

Probability is a mathematical term which is indicated with a number or percentage.
BTW, what is your purpose to know such information? I can't think of your purpose. Hideo Kato |

I'm practicing a trick with a DB gaffed card and this card is near the bottom of the deck. I spread the cards and ask the spectator to choose their preferred card. I want to leave the lest predictable cards on the bottom of the deck so there's less chance for me to flash the gimmick. |

Doesn't sound like too much of an issue, seems like you're overthinking the effect.
Try just spreading so ~20 cards are available selection, and just hold the spread on those twenty cards. If it's really worrying you, try culling the DB so it's hidden and you can spread through the entire deck cleanly. There seem to be easier solutions to the problem. |

You even don't need Culling. Have DB on top and take out the named card and cut the DB to the needed position.
You even don't need the above. Spread the cards with faces towards you to find the named card. After up-joggin the named card, close the cards and turn the cards face up. Hideo Kato |

Yesterday I was performing this to one of my kids and he wanted the 5 of diamonds (that was near the bottom). I said 'Choose one of these' but he insisted on the 5 of diamonds.
This trick requires a little setup so I thought that I could minimize this risk. Once again, thanks for your help. |

Hideo Kato, I can't spread the cards with faces towards me because I don't want them to see the backs. The trick is a kind of a deck color change.

So your question was not appropriate for the trick. Llynus-san's answer and my answer did not help you.
If you have specific cards in the set-up, letting spectator name any one card is not suitable for the trick. Sprea the deck face up hiding the set-up portion and invite point one card. Hideo Kato |

Thanks Hideo Kato. I will do that.
