I just started learning Misers Dream and have been on the hunt for some Ikes to use. Imagine my surprise when my local coin shop asked me if I could some gold plated Ikes. I now have 37 gold plated Silver Dollars for my routine. That should be enough. The best part is he only charged me $1.00 for the coins. No mark up. I wonder how these will look from the audience? Now I have to work on my routine and get to practicing.
I will probably be checking in the forum for advice as I work on my presentation. |

Congrats - they should be beautiful. Here are my recommendations & you will see them recommended all over the Café.
1 - For a fun routine with children & families... Chris Capehart's Misers Dream DVD. 2 - For a thorough overview of history, moves, multiple routines options... Levent's Complete Guide to the Misers Dream DVD. 3 - For a book - Bobo's New Modern Coin Magic has a good section on the Misers Dream. Have fun! |

However if you can make your audience realize that you are producing gold coins, you are justifying why you are producing coins rather than $ bills or credit cards which are perceived as more valuable than (usual) coins.

What I am struggling with is how I start. I will have some opportunities to do betweem 7 and 10 minutes as part of a larger show with multiple magicians. I am concerned that if I just go into a Misers Dream without doing anything to establish myself, it could come off as "look what I ican do". I am thinking that I need to find something to lead in with before starting the Misers. I'll figure it out. |
