Close-up Class:

May's close up class will cover some of the classics of card magic such as Twisting the Aces, Out of Sight Out of Mind, and Card in Wine glass. Participants need to bring a fresh deck of cards and 10 nimble fingers. Class will start at 6:30pm sharp.

Tickets should be available for the Dinner Show and Competition at the Safety Harbor Spa. Member will receive discounted price of $30 per person for Dinner and show. Public and door price will be $40 per person.

The Pendragons Are Coming!

They will be appearing at the only Florida State Magic Convention this year.
And get this....not only will they be performing the entire second half of the show, they will also be presenting a lecture AND a special teach-in for 20 lucky people only...BUT...10 of those seats are already gone!

Dear Members,

As you know the Sheriff's Youth Ranch is near and dear to me for many years. My relationship with the Youth Ranch made it possible to have our meetings there. I find when people give from their heart their lives are enriched.

There 60 children and house parents at the Sheriff's Youth Ranch. Many of these children are there not because of their actions but the actions of their parents or situation. They get the basics from the SYR and there is little room for extras or evenings out.

I propose our membership sponsor some children to go to see the Stage Competition. We can not take this from the general funds as this is not a regular cost for the club. So I am asking members to sponsor 1 or more children to go to the show. Mark has set up a link for those of you who would like to enrich the life of a child and show them what real magic looks like.

It works out to less than 1/2 a ticket per member, I know some will give more and sadly some will not all. Two coffees at StarBucks ... dig deep people!

Something that might not been mentioned, the profits of this show goes to pay our rent for the entire year at the Largo Cultural Center. Mark Byrne has worked unbelievably hard to put together a deal that benefits the club for year to come. So far we have 6 Competitors some traveling quite a distance to be part of our show. The new prize structure is working.

What is the club worth to you? We have 8 - 10 lecturers per year, a picnic, now two competition shows with prizes (stage & Close-up), the most beautiful facility I have seen for a magic club and all this for $30 per year???? I have belonged to other club, this is unprecedented most clubs are alacart, you pay your dues and then each lecture (if they have one) and for each meeting and a dinner and etc ...
With our membership topping this year at 130 magicians you would think selling out a 400 seat theater would be easy, we still have a ways to go!!! The room was almost sold out of the 400 seat theater. Not bad considering we were p against the Clearwater Jazz Festival.
