I am a young magician and I need a sound system for my show. I used to use the house system or there would be a CD player there and someone would run it. But it never went well...there were always cues missed, wrong track, etc. So, I have decided I need a system I can run myself by pushing a button either on me or my props. And I need something that can be heard in a medium-sized venue (say, a 500 seat theatre or maybe less). Maybe some sort of a computer I can use to program the sound cues??? And I have a wireless mic that would need to be hooked up somewhere in there. Can anyone help?

Do a search on sound systems. You will find tons of stuff already discussed on this topic.
Here is a link to one for example: http://www.themagiccafe.com/forums/viewt......1&39

Here's some Quick Links:
Consider the Fender Passport 150. The 250 is really too big, heavy, and powerful. As one pro put it, if you're playing in a theater with greater than five hundred, they most likely have a good sound system. (Exception: School PA systems and the room acoustics are really poor.)

I am looking for something that is controlled by remote that I can place on the table or in a pocket and have some sound effects keyed by this remote. I want it to be a PA system as well. I need it to be one man operated. Does anyone have any examples or sugggestions?

Greetings...
Jason, there's been a lot of discussion of this stuff here in the Café... try doing some searches... there is a guy who has some write-ups about using wireless keychain button device for controlling sounds. I use a system consisting of old laptop computer, X-10 modules, WinAMP software, and GIRDER software. I then use a wireless (RF) X-10 remote control (I use the 8 button model) to control sounds. A little tricky to setup, but it works for now, and since I owned all the parts already... Joe |

Oh yeah, Dennis is right-on about school sound systems-- gyms are the WORST!
