The Tarbell is a magic course which covers many form of our art: cards, coins, ropes...
If you have been in the magic community for a while chances are you've already heard of it Now it is (finally!) available on CD-ROM; I've just browsed through it and I think it's great. The e-book is very well produced and has some uncommon extra functions like seeing the original facsimile of the pages which I really like (it's not really needed, but it's cool ) I often travel for work and I like bringing with me as much magic related material as I can so, I do love e-books in general, and this one is certainly not an exception: almost 1300 pages and nearly 2900 illustrations "packed" in a single CD! The CD contains two versions: PDF and HTML. Like the other e-books from http://www.lybrary.com the HTML version can be searched and printed easily. Note that this is not the more known version reprinted in 8 books, but the original lessons; from the advertising: "You will get the original correspondence course of 60 lessons, not the later anthologies. The original lessons cover Vol. 1 through Vol. 6 and parts of Vol. 8 of the later anthologies. The 60 lessons are laid out with a lot of thought. You learn not just the moves and principles, but the history of magic, ethics, how to market yourself, patter to each trick. In one sentence a unique book sitting on the peak of the pile of magic literature." The direct URL is: http://www.lybrary.com/books/eCard_Tarbell_Course.html For 37$ it's a steal (for 30$ you can get the HTML only) Highly recommended. Cheers, Gio |

Look for it on CD soon from the LPP as well.
...think not that all wisdom is in your school. You may have studied other paths, but, it is important to remember that no matter who you are or where you come from, there is always more to learn.

Keep in mind that there is a big difference in the kind of ebook LPP and Lybrary.com is producing. I don't mean to slam Marko. I think he is doing a great job.
Lybrary.com's Tarbell comes both in PDF and HTML, plus the Post Graduate lesson, which to my knowledge, Marko is not including. Particularly our HTML edition comes with lot's of usability features like a great search engine (better than Acrobat is offering), text-to-speech, and integrated facsimile as Gio pointed out. Is the original Tarbell course content now in the public domain? I thought that Tannen's owned this material.
Just curious as to how the licensing rights to this works that two ebook publishers are both coming out with this. - I assume that the omission of v.7 is because it was written by Harry Lorayne and the rights to it are owned by either him or Tannens (or both). And another aside, I saw an original complete set of the lessons recently in the window of Tom Frank's new shop, Seattle Magic. Fascinating to see, but not nearly as useful looking as having them in ebook format. |

I think copyrights only last for a finite number of years (50?) - therefore all the old classics are copyright free.
I think that is why Dover editions of old books, for example, can sell so cheaply cheers, Shafique |

Thanks for the original post. I am going to pick up the Tarbell course right now. What a great resource to have on electronic format.
