BUG BALL
EFFECT: A ‘spider’ scurries across your table and you jab at it with your wand, but it keeps getting away. So, you cover it with a convenient Cup, box or ‘paper hat’. It keeps getting out mysteriously and appears in your pocket, under your lapel, behind you knee, etc., only to be caught under the Cup again. Then, the Bug discovers it likes it there and you can’t get rid of it. You take it out of the Cup and throw it away but it keeps coming back. Then other Bugs start appearing all over your table and you need a second Cup … Method: All of the necessary Moves and Sleights you already know, or can find in Kup & Stone GUIDE. You can easily draw a Bug Image on a sponge ball or old gaffed Chop Ball as you wish. Plastic Bugs come from the Dollar Store. Me, I’d use a styrofoam cup and a PK Ring if I decided to use a gaffed Ball, but prefer to use a second Secret Bug instead with Switch and Retention methods. Great place for a Snatch Vanish since you can be as jumpy as you like when handling the Bug. My cats go crazy over this routine. an alternate Patter line could be about some African Shaman who use spiders for divination (true) -- placing a spider under a cup and seeing where it runs as a means of Soothing. You could then combine a Chop Cup with Mentalism -- say, that could make for a new eBook!

Combined with The Web, you can use the routine for the opposite of Soothing.
