I read this news article and was appalled that anyone could be treated this way. What makes this worse is that airlines have been getting away with this sort of thing for decades. The first time I really was made aware of this sort of thing was from an old L.A Law episode in which Douglas Brackman, played by Alan Rachins, was stuck on a plane for several hours and was arrested for making a big stink about it.
All I can say is that I hope this man sues the death out of U.S Airways and the Philadelphia police for such abhorrent behavior.

Good thing they didn't charge him for interfering with a flight, that is a federal offense and they can charge you for virtually anything that bothers a crew member. Jim Morrison of the Doors went to court for that in Miami and I think died before the thing was finished. I was on a flight, Eastern Airlines if you remember them, and a guy tapped on the stews arm, he was drunk but wanted his kid to get a drink of water or something, and she threatened him with arrest and the co pilot or someone came back and got on him. All us passengers signed a note against her and the crew and said we would testify for him and they let him go. I doubt it was because of us passengers but she was mean.
What is funny is they did a study and the absolute worse airline is US Airways and the worse airport for problems with US Airways is Philly. |

That is appalling. These people seem to have no conscience.

One thing, the question of his being handles should be based on his behavior and have nothing to do with blindness. If he was being a real problem then he should have been ejected the same as anyone else would have been and I don't care if he was blind, in a wheelchair, and going to see his dying grandmother. I thought the big thing was everyone be treated equally? Now it seems you want some treated better.

We're also seeing the story from the reporter's probably sensationalized (surely not! ) point of view. It wouldn't have been nearly as good a story had he (she) said that the blind guy was being rude and abusive before being asked to leave.
Things are more like they are today than they've ever been before...
