Has anyone come up with a coin routine for Christians.

I'm not great in describing routines in writing, but I hope this helps a bit.
I perform a routine by Justin Miller called "Silver Dream". I use four coins in my routine and talk about the parable of the farmer who scattered seeds. ( I copied and pasted this part to save me time. ) *I only talk about this first part 4 One day Jesus told a story in the form of a parable to a large crowd that had gathered from many towns to hear him: 5 “A farmer went out to plant his seed. As he scattered it across his field, some seed fell on a footpath, where it was stepped on, and the birds ate it. 6 Other seed fell among rocks. It began to grow, but the plant soon wilted and died for lack of moisture. 7 Other seed fell among thorns that grew up with it and choked out the tender plants. 8 Still other seed fell on fertile soil. This seed grew and produced a crop that was a hundred times as much as had been planted!” When he had said this, he called out, “Anyone with ears to hear should listen and understand.” 9 His disciples asked him what this parable meant. 10 He replied, “You are permitted to understand the secrets[a] of the Kingdom of God. But I use parables to teach the others so that the Scriptures might be fulfilled: ‘When they look, they won’t really see. When they hear, they won’t understand.’[b] *When I get to this part, this is when I begin to make the coins disappear. Except for the fourth one, which I change into a jumbo coin. “This is the meaning of the parable: The seed is God’s word. ( Show coin) The seeds that fell on the footpath represent those who hear the message, only to have the devil come and take it away from their hearts and prevent them from believing and being saved. (make coind disappear) The seeds on the rocky soil represent those who hear the message and receive it with joy. But since they don’t have deep roots, they believe for a while, then they fall away when they face temptation. (make second coin disappear) The seeds that fell among the thorns represent those who hear the message, but all too quickly the message is crowded out by the cares and riches and pleasures of this life. And so they never grow into maturity. (make third coin disappear) And the seeds that fell on the good soil represent honest, good-hearted people who hear God’s word, (show coin) cling to it, and patiently produce a huge harvest.( changing coin into jumbo coin )

If you do the effect Matrix, here is a suggestion. Using the same parable about the Four Seeds...
Have four dollar coins (new one's either Susan B Anthony, Presidents (but make sure they are all the same) laid out, an Eisenhower or Liberty dollar, and five cards...four with the same colored backs and the last "go to card" be a different color. As you steal one of the coins when placing down the cards, drop the large dollar. Then cover each of the other cards. The last card is the odd card. Then tell the parable. Show the "seed" and then it "travels" to the odd card. Do that two more times with the other coins under cards. Finally, at the end...say "some of the seeds however fell in good soil...and they grew. Then pick up the card covering the big coin. I did this basic effect with Susan B's and an Eisenhower dollar for years in a routine about "the gangs of Old Chicago" and how they were getting all the "families" to join together. The last family "coin" wouldn't come over so they hired a 50 cent piece to rough him up. He was bigger and stronger but didn't have as much cents. (Okay...silly joke...but it always got a laugh) And then the last coin would be revealed to be "too big" for even the 50 cent piece. Something to think about. If you don't know how to do the effect matrix, it is explained in numerous books.

I use the Holy Cow coins, which have holes in the center of half dollars. I say that one of these coins is a Christ coin, but Jesus was like us so you can't tell them apart. Then one coin has two holes, and the other coin no longer has a hole. I explain that the Christ coin took the other coin's brokenness. I explain that in doing this, the Christ coin becomes 'hole-y' and we become 'whole'. Bad pun, but it's a nice, easy trick.

I would be intrested in any other gospel ideas for coin productions, coins across (three fly), copper silver and misers dream routines. I have though of using an idea like Mrehula posted for Sankey's Holy Moly washers.

Miser's Dream would lend itself to routines on tithing and how God is able to multiply your gift.

Three fly requires a little bit of scripting, but makes for a fun way to talk about the way the Trinity works (and frankly, how it's understandable to get confused when discussing the concept), being that there are three "persons" in one God (3 coins appear from one, and then return to one at the end).
While it's not typically a subject that involves humor, this allows for it, playing with the limitations of our own understanding and ultimately underscoring the power of God. |

MagicBob (www.MagicBob.org)is filming on July 11, 2009, for http://www.ChristianMagician.org his wonderful Gospel message version of The Lincoln Penny to flattened penny routine (the flattened pennies are sold by http://www.LivingWaters.com). He performed it last night (6/22/09) for Ring 211 in Grand Rapids, MagicBob is the current President of Ring 211. Rick Merrill, FISM winner, also a member of Ring 211, did coins and cards last night- Rick is also a strong Christian and went to Bible College at one time. These guys really know coin magic and I think you will really be able to use MagicBob's routine. We should have it posted hopefully in early August. I am hoping too that The Newest TOPS magazine accepts our Gospel magic column, if so, we'll put that routine in there too.
