Unbelievable that this guy does this -- and what's worse is he has it up for the whole world to see!
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yG7QlsfF1IQ&feature=related Someone should pull him off stage -- BY HIS EARS! Watch at the 58 second mark of the video. |

Wow!
If I did that in Canada I'd be in trouble with the animal rights society. I think that video was shot in the Philippines.I stand to be corrected, they may have different rules. Maybe Wanlu can drop in with his comment. TrickyRicky |

People who mistreat animals should be locked up. I don't have the facilites or time to take care of animals in between magic shows, so guess what? I don't use animals in my act. I'd love to have my dog in a magic trick, but she weighs about 130 lbs (about 60 kilos) so I'd need some pretty big props for her.

Tricky Ricky would not pick a rabbit up by its ears.
But it sure looks like his PK ring is doing a number on the steel plate in Lucy's head to make her stand up like that in his avatar! ;) |

Pulling a rabbit up by her ears is harsh. I could see the strain to the bunny. We should speak up and let this be known by placing a comment on the You Tube clipping.
*EDIT* I just tried to make a comment but I noticed "Adding comments has been disabled for this video." He probably knew he was going to get negative comments, so that is why he disabled the comments. |

You can also flag the video for animal abuse.
Yes, I am a magician. No I did not make my hare (hair) disappear... it just took early retirement.

Actually, My opinion is that most people don't know how to carry rabbits. My neighbor from a few blocks away called me to her house to check out her new rabbit. Well, basically, she carried the rabbit out like that. After some correcting, she got the hang of it. I feel people are not educated enough to know how to handle most animals...

Information on proper animal care is all around us - from books, animal shelters, pet stores, and GOOGLE. If someone is willing to get a pet, it's only reasonable to expect them to be somewhat informed of how to take care of the pet.
The thing about rabbits though, is that a lot of people imagine MAGICIANS pulling rabbits out of a top hat by the ears. So if that's the only image they have on how to hold a rabbit, then part of the blame is on magicians. And this magician on youtube is not helping to erase the image. Maybe we all can do a better job of educating the public on proper handling of rabbits. |

Really hard to believe a Magician would treat his animals like that.
The magic is not in our sleights and illusions, but instead in our ability to bring love and joy.

I've worked with a rabbit for a long time and never held it by the ears. Always support it by his bottom, rabbits have a fear of falling lif they are not held right.
