Hello,
I have been playing around with some ideas using a cup n and a ball. Would be grateful for any feedback on it. The video link is below... http://streetofcards.tv/view/276/sponge-n-cup-jam/ Cheers Rob |

Hello Rob,
Very nice. One small suggestion is to show that the ball has vanished from the one hand (second & third vanish) before showing it back under the cup. That's just a personal preference. I loved the vanish of the cup. You caught me off guard . Looks like something good in the works here.

Cheers,
Yep I agree about 2nd and 3rd vanish. It makes more sense that way round. Blessings Rob |

Very nice and "beyond what came in the box."' I agree with "jj" on opening the hand first to create Anticipation and the Pattern of Performance -- the audience knows the ball is going to be under the cup, and will hold their breath 'til you dain to reveal it. I would use a more 'natural' looking cup though -- rather than one that might create suspicion for a lay person.

I'd cut out all the unnecessary movement and make it slow and deliberate. Your hands were dancing around constantly and it kind of gave me the impression you weren't sure of what you were doing although that was just part of the choreography. Good start though.
Does the cup vanish work in real life or is it too dependent on angles? Bill |

You have a nice ending there. Good job. And the above advices and opinions are good food for thoughts.

Looks angle dependanat to me, don't get me wrong it's a fun piece but do the angles stack up?
I was put on this earth to do a great many things..... I'm now so far behind that I don't think I'm ever going to die!

Cheers for the thoughts. In regards to the angles and real world use of the cup vanish. I have used the vanish a few times with a more standard chop cup routine and have had people at a table to the left, right and in front and it worked, but by the time I did it I had been doing close up with them for a good 30 mins and so they were very open to direction, I don't think it would have worked as well as an opener. But I will try it and see some time.

Rob,
First off, welcome to The Magic Café. Glad to see you here. Thank you for sharing the video. I enjoyed it very much. Nicely done. I found the routine delightful. I thought that the magic and the music were very well choreographed together. Is the song an original composition. Just curious...in your creative process, which came first...the cup routine or the music? Thanks again for sharing. Mike

The music is from the soundtrack to the film Legend. It is a most magical sountrack and one that I always find inspiring. The music connects we with the feeling of magic and then I let the routine flow from the music, I want them to compliment each other. I have another short video which uses another piece from the same CD. I try to capture in a none obvious way with my magic the feeling of the adult wizard. People need enchantment so I play on that a bit.
Here is the link to the other video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dtCo3QD7PKc Hope you like it, Blessings Rob. p.s. I agree with the idea about the cup being a bit obvious and am on the look out for something alternative for it. cheers Funsway |

Hello Rob -
I really enjoyed your videos and certainly appreciate your having shared them. I also watched your "Chaos Sphere" video and enjoyed it very much as well. In my estimation, your dramatic style coreographed to music elevates your work to close up theater. Well done. Best, dc

The cup vanish is reminiscent of a cup vanish of Slydini's. I would advise you look into it, and the rest of his work if you like that type of work.
