if you want them applauding and laughing at the end of your set do SAM THE BULLHOP
if you want them mumbling, spooked and stuned silent do the ANYTHING DECK (aka DEEP ASTONISHMENT) |

Since it's a closer, and I'm outta there, I use this chance to do something with gimmicked cards or a gimmicked deck.
Anything Deck would be ideal, but when I don't have the guts, the Invisible Deck. |

Gary Kurtz's 'Hypothetical Possibilities'.
I am playing with the 'Anything Deck' as an alternate closer but the presentation hasn't shown itself to me yet. Jason |

I use In a Flash, as then I don't have to use the deck again! If I haven't got the gimmicked deck, I'll use JC's Super Closer.

I'm surprised no one has mentioned the Mystery Box, wherein a signed card is found inside a box that has been in sight the whole time, and under spectator control from before the card is signed.
One effect that would be a great closer, except for obviously being an opener, is the Ted Lesley effect in which a spectator takes a random deck out of a carton, breaks the seal, shuffles the cards, and cuts to a random card. The card matches another card, cleanly dumped from an envelope that has been on the table since before the deck is selected. I guess I'm just a fan of impossible locations/predictions… |

I usually end with something:
Examinable Something that takes up a lot of table space (J.C.'s Super closer for example) And something memorable and visual |

Depends... if impromptu with borrowed cards: Triumph.
When I have my stuff: McDonald's Aces and/or card to wallet. Certain conditions: Esoteric (Finn Jon's haunted deck) Favorite packet: Gypsy Curse (Ron Bauer handling). OPENER? Don Alan's Big Deal. (What is JC's closer?)

JC's closer is where the deck is shuffled by four different audience members and yet the four aces are found. They are shuffled and cut into the deck by another spectator, and again they are found. Finally, in addition to the four aces, the kings are found, and then, the rest of the deck is found arranged by suits!

I don't have a "permanent" closer that I use with every routine, I usually go with the mood of the spectator.
But if I were to name just one, it would have to be a Dark Card effect. |

How about "The Cassandra Quandary"?. I believe Hollingworth uses it as a closer. Builds up the tension until you realise you are about to see the impossible.

I like Bill Malones ambitious card. After a routine of cards changing, jumping to pockets, and rising to the top, the deck vanishes and you say 'with that i go too" and walk away.. They are left breathless.

For a stand-up show...
How about a Comedy Card to Mouth a la Jeff Hobson or How about Packed Wallet by Simon Lovell. Both great routines, that are funny, not too difficult, and leave you with nothing but the spectators selection at the end. You leave 'em laughing and amazed at the same time. Any opinions about those? For close-up table stuff, Jumping Gemini, Triumph, multiple selection/revelation where the last card is all that is left in the hands and the deck is gone...all seem to close well.
