When I was in Holland years ago I remember lots of friendly locals walking and milling about -- but no steeet performers like in many other places in Europe. Are there restrictions in place? How about strolling?

Hi Funsway,
Great that you have been in Holland. Good question. No there are no restrictions but you do need permission from the police to do street magic or any other performing. You get a license for a day. Amsterdam on a yard there is always performance, dancing, juggling but no magic. Here in Holland the street shells are forbidden, it is gambling and you will be arrested for doing that. I have been working on the street a couple times and I experienced that they do like magic. By strolling you mean? My english is okee but I always confused what strolling magic exactly means. |

Often street magic means standing in one place and waiting for crowds to come to you, while 'stolling' means you move to where the crowds are -- like in a campground where you can go camp to camp. Many restaurant performers might be considered 'strolling' though some are paid by the owner to be there. Strolling is popular on some beaches and parks here, while most buskers (where allowed) sit in one place. Some cities consider being stationary as soliciting and not allowed or needs a permit.
