Since it was mentioned earlier in the thread that there were quality issues with some of them (possibly even why he quit selling them in the first place), does anyone know if those issues still present in this new(?) product and/or what improvements were made? |

Being the "issues" have not been stated, how do we even know it was not just purchaser's error. I have not ever purchased it, but could see the problem that may occur, with this effect. It could be not handling the umbrella correctly so the card will appear as it should.
Problems would be because the person did not correctly close and wrap the covering tightly, jerking the umbrella, and pulling back, when it should be lunged forward, and stopped, without pulling back as this is a naturel thing to do, but kills the momentum. Whenever I have seen Kevin James perform this on television, it is perfect and surprising. I would guess, it is the old, problem, of people thinking props are suppose to be self working, and they don't have to "learn the proper handling". So they blame the prop, and not their unwillingness to practice and find out the little things they much to do for a successful effect. The Card Sword is just as difficult to be successful, unless you watch and learn from the Ted Leslie's lecture video. |
