I do a lot of weddings and I often perform Duke's dye version with the bride and groom, I was just wondering whether there are any other great silk routines that would work well at weddings. Any suggestions?

Thanks

One that was a lot of fun was the wedding for John and Pat Zardin years ago. (Member magicians of the Wizards of the Ozarks.)

At the proper time in the ceremony, my flower on my lapel became two silks. They were tied together for a Double Dove Production and the rings were tied to the doves.

It is not something you do every week. But it does make magicians weddings memorable.

There was a Rice routine called "Mr. and Mrs. Green" that might be appropriate if the couple intends to eventually have a family. Sort of 20th century silks but with little silks appearing between the two 18-inchers.

Mr. and Mrs. Green to which Mr. Narvaez is referring is also called Meet the Misses. We still have it in stock. Mr. Green meets and falls in love with Miss White. They, and the magician, tie the knot. Then Miss White changes into a green silk and becomes Mrs. Green. Soon there are five little Greens between them. A cute effect.

That is a very nice story and I agree that it is a cute effect.

I've done a twenty-century silks, with the center silk being white with a large red heart,
the couple “tie the knot”, and their hearts become one.
That help?

Blow Van may also be one that would fit in some weddings. Lucy and I use it to show uniting two in our "I've Got The Friend" routine.

Silk fountain bouquets come to mind ---

or 20th century -- but with a long line of smaller silks between the mains....

You can also use spring flowers with 4"x36" silk streamers very effectively and held at the waist nearly touch the floor.

Blendo silk effect (silks tied together and blend into one large silk) through symbolism can show how 2 lives can become one, when united. It would not matter if you used props or the mechanical silk set.

How many of you as a magician worked weddings this June? I'll have to admit I did not even go to a June wedding this year.

(Is the economy that bad?)

I know I am coming late to this party, but "tying the knot" seems like the perfect theme for a silk routine at a wedding. One effect that comes to mind is tying a knot in a silk that unties itself (using a reel). The knot keeps untying itself, which could make for some good comedy. Just make sure it stays tied at the end of the trick!

I think Mr and Mrs Green (or similar effects) would be cute but not at a wedding or any place else where the effect obviously relates to two specific people. Two exceptions might be if it's a "Brady Bunch" thing were all the kids would have the new surname through adoption or the Newlyweds have made it very clear that they are starting a family as soon as possible.

People getting married don't need attention drawn to their family plans. It's premature and private and the source of a surprising amount of tension and stress from potential Grandparents already.

None of us wants to make the Wedding couple uncomfortable for the sake of a cute Trick.

Everyone is entitled to there opinion, but what is the usual question for any married couple. When are you going to have children. That is life and is a fact of life.

I am sure Mr. and Mrs. Green can be worded as to not offend and embarrass anyone. Suggesting a family to follow the wedding, would get a big laugh from the attendees, I believe. I am speaking of the reception of course, not at the church.

For some strange reason, it seemed like there were more August weddings than June weddings this year.
