Seven. I thought this was common knowledge.
Should I read the article? Oh, I was right! (Nice section at the end, titled "Grist for Magicians". Though personally (if I actually did card tricks in the first place), I'd rather substitute a second, non-shuffled deck after letting an audience member shuffle and cut it.)

Believe it or not, the "7" factoid actually appears in textbooks. I mean Algebra 1 textbooks. I was shocked to see it there, but any self working card trick is probably dependent on some math somewhere.

At any card table, seven times is over the top. better stick with the RRSR sequence. its good enough for the world series.

Seven perfect Faros.
One of the last living 10-in-one performers. I wanted to be in show business the worst way, and that was it.

Seven perfect faros gets them one away from new deck order. it should be a normal shuffle, in theory, with 7 shuffles. normal meaning uneven.

The deck is never random if doing faros, from new deck order every card will be in a precise location after every shuffle and at eight be back in new deck order to start again.

But I'm not about to try it. And I thought the faro was a normal shuffle. Magicsanta, The faro will always yeild ramdom results unless the positions of the cards are known. New deck order works as such and so does any full or partial stack. For example, if the two jokers start in 6th and 13th position and one in faro is applied, the result will be that the jokers now lay in positions 12 and 26 and so on. I'm sure you know this, I just wanted to add something because I'm bored. V.

John, I only meant that in terms of shuffling 7 times to get perfect randomness, a faro isn't really needed.
In terms of time, I still think the RRSR sequence is best
