Hi & welcome!
When you have 50 posts-under you name-you will be allowed to enter other forums. They will appear 'magically'. Warmest regards, Sixten |

While performance magic relates to creating fictions and illusions,
it is based on trust that can only come form being 'real'. Exploring 'old posts' about performing experiences and relating to the audience will halp you more than learning new tricks. As a younger person magic can bridge the communication gap between various age cohorts. You will have an advantage over your peers.

If you're joining to learn tricks, then I would say that this forum is not for that, but to see what tricks are of value. Although there is a lot of exposure on certain forums, this site is no secret vault. With that being said, there is a huge mass of knowledge waiting to be read and will aid you in many areas! Welcome to the Café
Age is not an issue. Finding the good sources like Funsway, who tell you what magic really is about and show you the path, is. You'll have a great time here as long as you remain topical and avoid getting into personal debates. The café is a unique source to progress and improve on your magic. It was and still is for me even though I've been doing intensive research in magic for more than 50 years. Glad that you joined (start drinking: your expresso is getting cold and what counts is not what you ask but what you gain) Lawrence

Welcome! You're off to a good start with the quirky title of your post. Originality is appreciated here.
Just start rooting around, you never know what you'll find. It's nice sometimes to check out forums that you might think would be outside your areas of interest, because you can find all sorts of great surprises in them. This database is now so huge, and grows so rapidly, that you'll never run out of new information. I often copy the HTTP web address for threads that are especially interesting, then email them to myself for future storage and reference. Sometimes it's hard to find your way back, otherwise, or you may forget the topic entirely (may be more of an issue for those of us who are (ahem) no longer 16). Definitely check the Café before you purchase new effects, books, DVDs, etc. There's almost always a thread with one or more reviews and anecdotes of real world performance experience with the material. Have fun!
Now appearing nightly in my basement.

The tarbell course in magic (Which is the ultimate book of every useful trick ever!) A deck of cards Anything else tarbell tells you to buy". Personally I think, that Rice's "Encyclopedia of Silk Magic" would be welcome too! But first of all try to do a real magic for a "normal public" and not "show off" for magic conventions! And I think, you will be successful if you love what you do! Have fun, as long as is possible! |
