First of all, my first post after years of lurking and learning, so go easy on me!
Years ago a friend of mine showed me a trick consisting of two miniature cards and two regular sized cards. Each regular card had a miniature duplicate paperclipped face up to its face. So to start, let's say there's a mini 7D paperclipped to a regular 7D, and a mini QS clipped to a regular QS - all cards face up at this point. The trick involves turning over each clipped-together pair, and as they're turned over, you unclip the miniature, turning both face down. So the miniature is now face down beside the regular face down card. Once both pairs are turned face down, you slowly and fairly switch the miniatures, re-clipping them to the back of the "opposite" regular. In other words, the mini 7D is now clipped face down to the back of the regular QS and vice-versa. When you turn them back face up and unclip them, the mini 7D is now back with its mate and the mini QS is back with its mate. The trick can be repeated immediately and, in fact, becomes more puzzling the more you do it. My friend shared the secret with me and I perform it off and on to friends, but my problem with it is there's no climax to the trick. You can do it again and again and while the mystery may deepen with repeated viewings, in my mind it just becomes a puzzle more than anything else with no "magic". My question is two-fold. First, does this effect sound familiar to anyone, either as a marketed trick or a routine out of a book? Secondly, any suggestions as to how to properly end the trick, other than just putting the cards away when the spectators' eyes glaze over after seeing it again and again? Thanks! - Bob |

Bob, it was on a compilation dvd from IMS in a large dvd set of maybe 30 volumes.I have never seen it anywhere else other than there. On this dvd, it never had any ending either, just a traspostion as described.
