Hey I'm pretty new to the magic arena. I Learned my first trick back in like 4th grade; The 4 aces trick where you seemingly deal them all into one pile then magically switch them to the adjacent pile. I recently restated learning magic about a year ago(2nd half of HS senior year). I mainly do magic for kids I'm babysitting, friends and Frat Parties/Mixers(drunk people are excellent audience members because you can screw up and they are still amazed).
I am mainly into impromptu card tricks. My favourite 2 tricks are the Invisible Palm (from Wayne Houchin) and Believe (Joel Paschall). I got interested in magic because of one trick I saw as a child. The magician had a rod with 4 pom poms sticking out of it. He proceeded to pull different pom poms and explaining "how they affect the others." I was so amazed by it I picked up magic books. The impact of that single trick is why I do magic - I strive to create that same feeling of awe and amazement that I felt at the end of the trick and if maybe something I perform for someone will be have the same experience as I did so many years ago. Seeing their amazement fuels my love for magic. |
