Hi! I was wondering if some of you could post what tricks and what order you use them in, in your routine?
I don't want to copy routines, I just need some examples as I've never routined my tricks before. Thanks a lot!

I do only two tricks at a table usually. I tend to talk too much and have stories. I do a ring and string routine and then a card trick, or I might do B'Wave and then go to a mentalism trick with a full deck of cards.
One routine that I think flows really well is a sponge ball routine with a card trick. After a quick sponge ball routine I get someone to pick a card. I push a ball through the deck and when we look through the deck a card has a red dot on it. It is the selection. I then flick the red dot off and it becomes a songe ball. That is an example of some of what I do. I hope it helped you. The magic Menu gave me the idea for this routine although I do it differently that what they said. |

My card opener goes like this:
I start off with Dunbury Delusion, then go into Jazz Aces, followed by Twisting the Aces, followed by the Pinapple Twist, and ending with Dr. Dailey's Last Trick. This set up is perfect for me as it can be stopped at any of the stages and seems complete. Doug

Doug,
Cool set, with a minimum of cards in play. I like your thinking. |

Thanks Ron!
My patter is that of making it simpler for the spectators to follow (i.e.) after D.D. I explain that maybe it was too much to follow because they had to watch the whole deck so now let's just use these 8 cards. When I'm done with J.A. I say let's just use 4 cards and do the T.T.A. and P.T., then I end by telling them I want to do a little observation test and go into D.D.L.T. I've been thinking about dropping the Pinapple Twist and Dr.Dailey's Last Trick and putting in Daryl's Ultra-Monte. That way I could drop it from 4 cards down to 3 cards. Doug

Planning routines is major work. My process is calculated but not difficult. Without going into too much detail, after learning an effect I'll decide whether or not it will be practical for table-hopping.
If yes, then the next step is to decide which catagory might fit best in (Opener, Middle, Closer). I found the use of creating a spread sheet to store this information to be invaluable. Add it to the column that you think it might play best and rehearse the set throughly through practice. Think in terms of the progression of the set, pocket management, display and reaction. You might want to write-out the full requirements for each routine and keep them on file for future reference. There is more to planning but for lack of wasted space... - Jared |

I used to open with Don Alan's Big Deal, then I would have a card selected, signed and do an ambitious card. In the middle of that routine I would do Triumph with the signed card, card on forehead and then card to wallet.
Lately I have been using the Iraqi cards and doing a version of McDonald's Aces with Saddam and his boys... I then tend to close with cups and balls, varying between Riser Mini cups and my own Indian cups.
