Hi guys,
It's been a pretty mild summer so far in Chicagoland but I think the heat is yet to come. There were a few hot days, so I decided to get a "personal cooling system" to combat the heat. Here is the link to what I decided to buy and I have to say it works great! I bought the model with two packs so when I'm ready to switch out the one I'm wearing, I just go to the cooler and I'm back in business in about 30 seconds. If you have a buddy you know that works outdoors, see if he'd like to get one with you. You can each save about 4 bucks on shipping http://www.blackicecooling.com/ Glenn

I could have used that yesterday. Was working for an hour and a half in a small marquee- I could tell straight away it was going to be way too hot.. I got the organisers to install a rotating fan for me, and the show went ahead.
But this looks handy. Just checked eBay, my first stop - nothing on there yet.. What do they cost, and how long do they stay caool, approx? DCB

Here's the scoop.
The price is 39.95 for the type I bought. Shipping was about 10 bucks but I did get it fast... I think in 2 days. I did have a buddy who wanted one too, so it cost us each about 45 bucks because of reduced shipping. I'm telling you, this thing makes a big difference in how you feel. You bring a little cooler along and keep ice and water in it. It takes about 20 minutes to fully charge in ice water and the one your wearing will last about 45 minutes before you need to switch it out. You'll know when it's time to switch it out because you'll start getting hot and the chambers of collar will get soft. The chemical they use supposedly delivers a constant 57 degrees to the neck area, so it's not freezing cold like ice can be. It's really comfortable to wear, it cools about 2/3 of your neck (the back and sides) and it's easy to switch out... it just takes about 30 seconds to change it out. I'd be surprised if you'll find them on ebay. I think it's a fairly small company so I think they just sell direct to the end user... I know I'm never selling mine. Glenn

It's getting to be that time of year again... and 90 + degree days are rough ones.
If you're pitching outside and want to beat the heat, I still haven't found anything that can compare with the Black Ice Cooling System. Do yourself a favor and pick up the model with 2 cooling packs and you'll have a constant 57 degrees around your neck all day long. http://www.blackicecooling.com/ Glenn
