A shortcut is "a method, procedure, policy, etc., that reduces the time or energy needed to accomplish something." So doing things the right way fulfills your definition of a shortcut, but it doesn't make it a shortcut. Now THAT'S confusing! Quote:
The best way to be proficient in anything, hypnosis included, is study and practice.<----period This statement is only partially true. If you study materials that are obsolete and filled with errors, you won't become proficient in anything but error. If you practice things that aren't right, you'll develop habits that prevent you from achieving proficiency or success. It's a lie to say that "practice makes perfect. Only perfect practice makes perfect. That's why musicians break down sections of pieces and work on getting it right, then practice doing the section the right way. |

A shortcut is where you reduce the number of steps in order to get to an outcome. In other words you cut out a number of the required activities normally associated with doing it the "right way".
Therefore NOT having a business plan or NOT having proper training could be thought of as a short cut. To include all the essentials for achievement is doing it "the right way" and NOT taking short cuts. Generally it is always quicker to get to a destination by doing things the right way first time. Rather than **** about with short cuts only to have to go back and do it right eventually or never reaching your destination at all. Generally speaking shortcuts take longer than doing things right.Because you usually have to go back and do them right anyway. The only additional thing to throw in here is that sometimes the "right way" becomes obsolete by some new more effective method or plan being developed. I think that's what Danny meant. I have no Idea what Craig meant its not that he confuses me - I think he is confused. |

To call the right way a "shortcut" is just silly. If you compare it to the "wrong" way that is not going to make it a "shortcut". You can eliminate WRONG STEPS and not take a "shortcut". You end up simply taking the right path.
God this is a stupid discussion.

Therefore, if doing something as you call it the "right" way, results in a faster way of achieving something (success) than the way that is done by many or most people, what you call the "wrong" way, then by definition it is a shortcut. I also try to teach pigs to sing, with similar results.
On the bright side, the pig is very impressed with himself.

I think I just realized that all the back and forth was actually a ploy to discourage comedians from learning hypnosis...

I don't think it is a ploy to discourage anyone. Infact on here its the opposite. You will find that most on here will rave about courses products and tell the world there is enough room for everybody to learn hypnosis.
The vendors of courses and products make a few bucks regularly while flooding the market with newbies. The truth is the market is screwed and becoming more screwed every day. Pretty soon only comedians will pay money for courses as it will become one big joke. Personally I would discourage as many as possible. If I were still doing shows. But its too late anyway. Your local supermarket will be selling courses on hypnosis soon. |
