Has anyone used the Butterflystorm by Alan Wong? I can't seem to get a storm like the snowstorm. There must be a way to make the butterflys fly.

It's how you fan them. Play around with the position of your fan and how hard your fanning action is. It could also be the size of your fan. You must have enough wind to get them to move upwards and everywhere.

Don't practice with a lot of tissue butterflies at one time. Begin with three or four and work at just keeping them in the air. Gradually, you can add a few more until you have a nice "cloud" of butterflies. Think of it more as a juggling trick than as a magic trick.

If you've got one, try it, but I would suggest concealing it in some prop and just using the fan to drive the butterflies over the other stream(s) of air you have concealed about the performing area.
Have you checked out my "Autumn Leaves" e-Book in The Wizards' Journal #10? You might be able to combine some of those ideas for leaves and substitute butterflies.
