Haven;t heard of that one, and I'd been looking awhile for a good shurunken head. The real ones are rare and thousands of dollars. You can find the black rubbery ones that were all the rage on rearview mirrors in the 50's- I got one and tried to make it look more genuine by adding more hair, coating the thing with rubber cement and cotton, painting it, and even burying it for awhile to get rid of the plastice smell, but it just didn;t work out. The whole project looked terrible.
There's material on the web on how to carve an apple and dry it so the head looks like a product of south america. I found an importer that brings in 'shrunken heads' that are actually artistically shaved goatskin, soaked and fitted over a wooden mold. They even have the stitching in the back of the head and some stitches in the eyes and mouth. And because they are animal skin, the smell is pretty evocative. Being basically impulsive, I bought a dozen from the dealer and even got mentioned on their webpage as a 'wholesale buyer' that scared his magic club. They're pretty good heads. The effect I do with it is from Doug Byrd's bizarre site, using a force bag made of some animal skin (I tell the audience it's dog fur), with some bone slices in it and one special one to force. After passing out the 'slices of arm bone', the shrunken head of the tribal shaman is brought out to see who in the audience might have his bone. And he wants it back!!! Muwahahahahah! I have a few heads extra and would be happy to part with one or two at cost- below what you would pay anywhere else. And definitely less than the cost of a video. After my experience with trying to make a plastic one look real, I don't think I'd want to try making one with latex- it probably takes making a cople before you get a good one. But more power to whoever did it- I'd like to see that video. Just PM me if you'd want one of the gotskin heads- or if you like I'll be happy to lead you to a dealer. Sometimes they are sold on ebay, too. What effect were you going to use a head for? |

Actually, Ive considered purchasing this video several times, but I think like a lot of the items are overpriced and outdated. If they ever had a 50% sale Id probably grab it.

I bought this video, as I needed a few heads, the video was on sale, so I got a few dollars off on it. After watching it, I must say, I am a bit upset with myself, as the method I use often for larger scale projects! Over all the process is simple enough and worth the cost, if you never made one. This is not a must have, but a nice to know how to do kind of thing........I would happily trade it for the spirit mask video.........
