Every magician is searching for the one trick that will turn them into the worlds greatest magician – It does not exist – We all know what makes the worlds greatest magician.
Let me tell you a story On Saturday I am proud to launch Project Magic Australia – David Copperfield will be at the Sydney launch. He must be the most recognizable magician of this century. But what about that elusive trick. During the course of getting Project Magic launched I received a phone call from a Doctor who performs magic for kids at the main Sydney Children’s hospital. He had a request – A year ago he was entertaining some sick children, one a 9 year old boy Adam was engrossed with his performance, after the show they were wheeling Adam out he had a drip and had lost his hair and was very poorly. He demanded that he be turned round as he wanted to talk to the magician. He was brought to the doctor and smiled and said Mr Magician, could you make leukemia disappear. From that day the doctor and the Adam communicated and Adam is now in remission, he is a bright happy boy and is loved at the hospital. He now has a passion for magic. He knows that David Copperfield is coming to Sydney, but the family could not afford the ticket to go to the show. I was contacted by Doctor Gibling to see if it was ok for him to come to the Launch, What – OK - He was more than welcomed to come. However What he does not know is that David is going to give him and his mum a free seat at his show. I for one can’t wait to see his face when he meets David. Isn’t this what magic is all about - Wouldn’t it be wonderful if we did have that trick so much yearned for by Adam. We don’t, but as magicians I must say that around the world all the free performances and fund raising efforts of magicians raises this great art to be something that is really magic, giving the gift of happiness to so many people. We are so lucky to have David Copperfield, and even more blessed that he cares and does so much for sick people. Well their you have it you all have the ability to perform the greatest trick in magic, the trick of bringing joy and happiness to sick and underprivileged people who need some cheering up I am looking forward to Saturdays launch if your an Australian magician do come along and be part of this great event. Hi Mr. Rahman:
It's always a great thing to read a story as yours. If you get to see, speak with Adam, tell him that we're praying and pulling for him. What a thrill for Adam and his 'mum', this will be! (Wish I could be there to see their faces) And if you can, please tell Mr. Copperfield: "Way to go!" Warmest regards, Sixten |

Hi again, Mr. Rahman:
Just wondering how it went for Adam & his 'mum'? (Hoping it was 'magical', for all) Thanks, & warmest regards, Sixten |

That's a beautiful story. I've been a Copperfield fan for a long time... even when it isn't so cool to be so. He always treated his fans well so I gathered he must be a nice fellow. (I actually met him 30 odd years ago when he was signing autographs after a show in Madison, WI but I was too tongue tied to say anything other then "thank you.")
If you still speak to him, could you tell him this for me? Others may remember him for the statue of liberty or the airplane, but *I* still remember being blown away by his doing a *perfect* front and back palm right up in the face of the camera in his first TV show. Anyone with a big budget can make a lear jet vanish, but that kind of close up talent is something I've longed for and never will have. He also made magic-as-theater a big thing. Something I've also much admired and wished I could do.
It is always darkest just before you are eaten by a grue.
