Hi All
This isn't about coin magic but kinda need advice about something that is eating me up. At work, someone has been going into peoples pockets in their lockers and stealing their money, be it change or bank notes. This has been going on for a number of years. A few month ago I caught them and through word of mouth this got out to the HR manager who started an investigation. I just heard that the person that was doing the stealing resigned yesterday, and now everyone knows that I was involved in the whole fiasco. This person has been with the company 25 years and everyone knew him, everyone thinks he crossed a line doing what he'd been doing, but I'm finding it really hard to deal with the guilt. I'm finding it pretty *** hard to go into work as I feel everyone may blame me for him loosing his job. How do you deal with a situation within yourself like this? |

I will also add that everybody had suspected him all along.

Hi boydy:
Hold your head up high. You did the correct thing! (Don't allow others to tell you differently) He should have been arrested. You mentioned, above, that you caught them. (More than one) If so?, they have to go, also. Warmest regards, Sixten |

Consider the alternative. Stealing continues and its partly your fault! Your colleagues will respect you for making the right decision.

Boydy, stealing is not good and the greater perspective here should be that you have stopped a wrong-doing at your job that affected others negatively. Also you have hopefully helped to stop a deviant behavior in the person that was doing it.
They knew you caught them in the act and from that day to this it has been a seed in their mind and has been growing to help them and the overall situation change for the better. You correctly planted that seed. So you have done nothing wrong and others will come to see that through any such initial warped perceptions here...Give it a little time. Also and most importantly give prayer for the individual that has moved on and pray for the change to continue in him/her for the good. Now, it's a new day and let's keep moving forward in it. After a while, people at your job will remember most that they no longer are missing anything from their pockets and that's a good thing that will take its place over all the bad stuff. Just give it a little time my friend, the magic will happen as it always does. -Mb

He's the one that chose to steal, and he faced the consequences. It just wasn't right.

Also, boydy:
Hopefully your management will 'now'! issue locks, for all the lockers. And cameras also. In today's society/work-place that's what is needed. Sad. |

You didn't rat him to the HR manager someone else did. You are assuming that you were the reason he left but in actuality it likely came down to "one more complaint" and the rumor was enough to clinch the deal. Don't worry about it.

Yeah, cheers guys and gals. I didn't rat on anyone so he is the one who should be feeling terrible not me. Just my nature I suppose.

It's good to be bothered. It speaks well for you.

Don't feel guitly. If someone was stealing my things I would have wanted you to tell someone. You did a good thing.

I saw someone stealing at my work. I notified loss prevention, and he was subsequently let go. I didn't tell anyone else. It's a crummy position to be in. You did the right thing.
