The Virts are collaborating with Bone Ho for a great event and DVD, that you may be interested in.
I'm not gonna do the talking, so help yourself by following these easy steps: 1. Click the link: http://www.wld2009.com 2. Register for the FREE event that is taking place online (the green box) 3. Surf around the site and read everything 4. Be awesome Not convinced? Watch the first teaser here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uDp8p2nq7sU -Erik PS. It should be noted that I barely do any flourishing, and I wasn't even paid to promote this. I'm guessing it's genuinely good then!

All I have to say about Huron and the rest of the Virts is WOW!
They have the utmost respect for our art and I have the utmost respect for their skills. They pay such detailed attention to every little nuance of their sleight of hand it enables them to teach you in great detail how to correctly perform the sleights or flourishes they share. Go and sign up to their website and watch their free tutorials, not only do they look outstanding due to their great editing skills but you part with the knowledge of why these flourishes work and also why they don't, allowing you to avoid learning bad habits. if you have seen them already you will know that when I say they are freaking awesome I am not lying. I cannot say enough good things about them. Go and check out one of the hottest groups to grace our art with their knowledge, even if you don't flourish I guarantee you will enjoy just watching their videos. Also if you aren't a flourisher check out Huron's Fire in the Hole and Four DVDs, they are some of the most visual and creative torn and restored effects out there, and search you tube for Huron's super clean sandwich video, I can also guarantee you will watch it more than once, it is a shocker! Help support these guys, they deserve it! http://www.thevirts.com Over and out. Ben Williams |

I'm glad to hear Bone is releasing this. He disappeared for a while. I remember years ago his talent (from what I've seen) matched up there with the best. Great to see that he's back.
Huron, Bone Ho and the rest at Virts are doing a great job for the art. Everything Ben said, 2 posts above me is bang on. Skilled isn't enough to describe these guys. |

Love this project!
It's refreshing to see a group of people with passion for card manipulation really trying to produce something the 'best it can be'. Amazing production values don't usually go hand in hand with quality teaching and content. The WLD2009 event shows that you CAN fuse together a visually rich media experience, world leading technique, and crystal clear instruction. BRAVO! If you have not already done so, I recommend registering with them. There are only 8 days left to go before the release of the DVD plus the The Eye Cut tutorial becomes available - Registration page for the free tutorials: http://tinyurl.com/MoMDribble

Btw, the Anaconda resembles what Gambit did in X-men Origins: Wolverine, where he lifted his hands and the cards just flew into the air to form a huge airborne stream of cards. =)
Do check it out! You just might like it. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=S7yvPcKVf80 Huron Low

OK
Gotta weigh in on this one. I am not a by any means a great XCM guy, however I have quite a few DVDs so I do feel I am in a position to discuss quality of instruction. I should also note that I pre-ordered the DVD and digital download so my opinion may be colored by difficulty I had with this process. For $37 you are getting lots of digital glitz, intro, music, talk about why the flourish is great and then what seems like 4 minutes of a single demonstration of hand placement that in my opinion amounted to "do a dribble but spread your hands really far" For this much hype and money I expected multiple demos and views, and more insight into the move. If I missed the nuance or there is more on the DVD than the download then other regular card guys who are not XCM dudes feel free to let me know. Thanks for listening |

You're welcome. That's exactly what I was expecting it to be. I hoped to be proven wrong, though.

Bone just gets done showing you the hand position, describes the finger movements during release, and then it's over. When the DVD flipped back to the menu, my first thought was that I had a defective disc and there must be more. There's a big gap between the explanation, the demo he shows as he's doing it (which looks mostly like a well-done dribble), and the full-fledged Anaconda, which is definitely a breathtaking move when fully realized. There's no discussion of trouble points and how to overcome them, or additional coaching on making the leap from dribble to Anaconda. But if this all we'll get, I'll take it on hope and faith that this is all we need, and the rest is just practice. I love the bonus moves, BTW. There's a great selection, and they're all pretty and different enough to warrant some serious practice. So, has anyone gotten the Anaconda move looking right, yet, based solely on instruction from the DVD?

Here's another thing - did anyone notice that the photo on the menu page of the Anaconda in its full glory features an entirely different hand position than the one taught on the DVD? Different fingers, different edge of the deck, different thumb position, etc. If that's the best shot of the card stream, and it required a different hand position/technique, then why wasn't that explored on the DVD?

I learned the move from a like 1 minute video years back, 4 minutes of instruction should be more then enough. I don't have the DVD personally but Fire In the Hole had pretty good teaching, I would expect the same from the Virts? Also to answer MaxfieldsMagic's question it is likely one of two possible reasons being an ex-cardist myself:
1. That grip is "Underground" Cardists love underground stuff or, 2. Could be that the technique can be done in different ways and that's how Bone Ho likes to do it as opposed to the way the Virts like to do it which in most probability it was taught the way the Virts like it. |

Cardists may love "underground" stuff, but usually when you buy a tutorial, you're expecting that as much as possible will be dug up for your edification.
