Can a chicken be body loaded? If so, does anyone have any ideas about making the props? (harness, bag holder, etc.) I was thinking about putting that type of effect in my act after purchasing "Line Of Silks" - DoveLite Silk Magic by Bob Sanders.

Well I have not tried body loading a chicken, but I'm sure it can put behind a table inside of bag holder, like rabbits are put in. Tried it out when I was at country home and did a show. She was really quiet and still. Very interesting birds.

Thanks you, Fred. That does sound like a good with Thomas Clark's "Rabbit Production" prop.

Dynamike,
You know that I also produce a body loaded dove when the Line-of-Silks is returned to me. (I know at Colon this week I produced a bottle of Coke, but I took no doves with me on that trip.) Bob Sanders Magic By Sander |

How big is the chicken, Dynamike? Is it a small chicken, or a full grown one like the size of a rooster? I can imagine the size of the bulge from the jacket. LOL!

A real advantage of chickens is that they are very road-worthy and they go to sleep in the dark.
Go out on the net and look up Matilda the Magic Chicken. We held a Broken Perch ceremony for her in August 2006. She spent 16 years as a magic performer! Bob Sanders Magic By Sander |

Suggest you get the Mike Cavney book 'Comedy Magic' he has a Chicken production with his knife thru coat routine.

Also suggest you check your liability insurance. You may be restricted in what type of animals you can use. I know that a chicken would violate our coverage.

Mike, I had 2 chicken's and they smell bad if kept inside the house. I had to keep them in the garage when they got olde. I got to say they were easy to train and friendly. One sat on my finger and the other sat on my shoulder. They are not legal in the city because it is a farm animal they also baned ferrets a few years back.

We use chickens all the time. We do a table steal.

Chickens are very trainable and work well in stage acts. IQ Zoo in Hot Springs, AR had a business of training "show biz" chickens.
