So I want to finally put a bunch of the videos I have collected onto a DVD that I can play on my regular DVD player. For my home made movies I just use the Windows DVD Maker. But some of my stuff needs to be converted.
I suppose that means I need some kind of free video file converter. Anyone have any suggestions? (BTW: I am mainly interested in making a DVD of video clips I downloaded from a site to which I have a PAID SUBSCRIPTION. So this is all legal and legit. Just to make that clear.) |

Go to download.com and get Any Video Converter 2.71 or 2.76 - that should do the job just fine.
Then to burn almost any format to a DVD quickly and automatically (and also FREE) get DVD FLICK. In fact, it may handle your original videos without a need for conversion. A few DVD Flick tips (it's almost intuitive): Every time I set it going to burn a new DVD, I have to go to Project Settings and specify the title I want on the disc's menu, what I want to happen after a chunk of video has finished playing (return to menu, play next, etc), and that I want it burned rather than just making a .iso disk image. I also have to go to "menu settings" and check "enable menu" and "auto-play menu" and uncheck everything else. You can get 4 1/2 hours on one DVD (don't try to exceed that by more than 5 minutes or so). Good luck! |

Cool! Tnanks. Advice that quick ought to earn you a consultant's fee. (Just look at the time on his post, folks. It wasn't even 6:00AM in Virginia.)
Instead I'll buy you a virtual beer: :stout: But you really ought not to drink that for breakfast. |
