My problem with BB manipulation used to be that my hands are too dry. That was when I was using wooden balls many years ago. If I could get my hands wet I could handle the wooden balls very well. Maybe you should switch to wooden balls with your wet hands! Give it a try.

The rosin sounds promising. As I said, I've tried washing the balls and my hands right before the show. Works for a few minutes, but quickly return to slippery state. And the corn huskers lotion actually seems to make it worse when it gets on the balls.

I don't like fakini's for just that reason. I found the cheap rubber balls work better for me and retain the tackiness even with moist hands. I purchased the 2" blinky balls at our local party shop. These are the ones where you bounce them and they light up. I put them in the microwave for about 2 seconds to disable the electronics so they don't blink.

Quote: I have very few problems with the multiplying billiard balls. I have performed them about 500 times over the past two years and I've only dropped twice on stage. Keeping an extra ball somewhere on your person will make a drop look almost purposeful if one plays it right. There is a lotion that I find to be extremely beneficial although I rarely use lotions before a show. What may help one part of my act could potentially hurt another part. The lotion in question is called Corn Huskers lotion. If you've ever heard of it, I'd like to hear your thoughts. I need to special order it but after applying to your hands wait about ten minutes and your hands will have a nice dry tack to them. It's been a secret of mine for years on those real dry days. I hope this helps.

Tannen's used to carry Frank Garcia's Manipulation Lotion. They don't carry it any longer but do have this which is the same thing. http://www.tannens.com/shop/cart.php?m=s......n+lotion . I've used it for years and still have about 3/4 of the bottle left. It only takes a small amount Just rub some on your hands before you start your show. It feels a bit sticky or oily at first but keep rubbing your hands together and that goes away. It doesn't hurt any other things you might do like silks etc but your hands will not sweat and will retain a certain stickiness that works well with the Fakini's or any other manipulation balls.

Marc,
Unless someone has extremely sweaty hands, they won't understand your situation. Years ago I posted something similar and received similar response. So I tried it all - all the hand creams, lotions, rosin, everything. Nothing worked. This is what I have to do. I have a battery operated fan backstage. I keep my hands dry by standing in front of it. I spike a spot for my fan onstage and before I am on, the stage hands set the fan. During my billiard ball sequence, I simply stand in front of the fan. The fan is small and black and sits on the floor so as to stand out as little as possible. But it also puts out pretty well and is pretty quiet also. Sometimes your problem is your ph level/balance (I believe that is mine). I tried everything and any time I put something on my hands, my angry sweat glands would rebel and sweat harder (even with spray on anti-perspirant!). I tried holding an ice pack before a show and that was a mistake - my hands didn't respond like they need to, etc. Try the fan. If it doesn't work, try moving away from Fakinis and using the high bounce balls. Those actually respond better when my hands are sweaty. Anyway... best of luck to you. Peter |

I never had this problem when I started, but later on when I changed my act around I too couldn't hold onto my billiards. The difference was in my old act I did card manipulations with fanning powder right before the billiard ball routine. The fanning powder would absorb all the sweat on my hands and make the balls very easy to hold. Now I have got to the point when I am not nervous to do my act so I have little problems with my hands sweeting. Anther tip I have is to buy a set of bigger Fakinis as these will stretch your fingers out and make the 2 inch set even easier to work with.
