Hellow I saw this new item realeased by mak magic company, is kind of a MPS but with a very good price.
I saw a demo on his web and the props seem very good quality I would like to know if someone could do a good review about the product, I think the difference in the price must have some differences in the working of the prop althoug it looks very well built thanks |

It is very well built. Just another principle as the expensiv Item, but works good.

Thanks for your post.
Very interesting if this item can be used as the expensive models it would be a very good item for magicians who can not go with the MPS. do you know if the spectator itself can get the prediction from inside of the box or is the magician who brings it back from it thanks |

I just began researching this as I was fascinated by seeing a box prediction done by David Copperfield at Foxwoods on Saturday. Obviously Copperfield can afford anything but for the rest of us even $375 is a bit pricey, however if it can perform the effect then who really cares about the box. No one works out of seeing this done thinking about the box but the predictions. So Bill when you say "Junky knock off" I am not sure how you come to that.

Its not a junky knock off - it is well built - decent quality and doesn't cost a fortune.
Bill only drives Mercedes and drinks bottled water... ;-) He won the lotto and only buys the best (his magicmakers collection is up for sale now btw..) :-P (yes I am kidding!) The problem with magic is that much of the nice original stuff costs way too much these days... knockoffs wouldnt happen as much if orginals werent so darn expensive LOL... buts that's a whole new thread.... If you go with the MAK one, you wont be disappointed. The quality is great, and it works like a charm.

Well, here is the review. I was able to pick this up at wholesale so I got a good deal and didn't break the bank in case it was junk. I love the effect but just couldn't see dropping 3 grand on it.
I can say that it is not junk and I was pleasantly surprised with the quality. Here is what you get, a sturdy table that breaks down for easy storage. All the table pieces fit in the box for storage except for the table base so it leaves you with carrying just 2 pieces. I like the fact that it is very portable. The box works fine but is bigger than it needs to be but does the trick. The table base works well and is deceptive. The tube loading mechanism is easy to set up and works fine so no problems there. Overall, while it is a cheaper knock off, it works very well for the money, it is well built and the effect is great! If you are looking for a great effect on a budget, this is perfect for you. One thing to note, without giving too much away, you will need an assistant off stage.

I bought a Mak Magic Prediction Case and Table from some guy on eBay. When it arrived it was in original packaging and obvious that it had never been removed from the package nor assembled or used in any way. As I put it together it was apparent that it was junk from beginning to end. The coupler which attached the table to the stand was not attached well at all...without some serious "reconstruction" it would have been un-useable.
In assembling the stand, the plastic screw inserts (which allow you to break down the stand for easier transport) were inserted (and glued in) incorrectly making the upright portion of the stand crooked. Given the fact that the pole couldn't be made to stand straight upright, it simply looked like a crooked piece of crap. The table and case were OK, but obviously cheap. Although it was loud when the "move" was performed, I understood that issue could be handled with music or dialogue during that time frame. The "tubes" that were included for the prediction load looked OK, but cracked after only two attempts at practicing the "load" function. Mak offered to sell me replacements for $20 each but I subsequently found them available on-line for $3.50 each. After all was said and done, I've retired this piece of crap to the junk corner of my magic warehouse. I like the concept but have no faith in its' ability to deliver the anticipated/necessary effect in a performance environment. Since I bought it from a guy on eBay I sent him a note and told him of my displeasure with the unit. He indicated that he had never opened or assembled the unit (which was obvious from the packaging when I received it) but he knew it was not a quality device. Fortunately, he refunded my money (less shipping charges) so I wasn't out too much....AND he didn't even want me to waste my time or money shipping it back to him! My recommendation, based on the experience I had with the Mak Prediction Chest and Table, is "Don't Waste Your Time, Effort or Money". It'll frustrate you and put you that much farther away from buying a quality prop that will do what you expect. Sorry Mak, but that's my experience and the way I see it. MagicAL |

I am not sure this is the same piece that I have. I did get it from Mak though. My table base is very solid and not crooked at all. It would probably hold my weight and I am a bit over 200 lbs. Mine has no plastic screw inserts at all. All my pieces are welded metal with a hard plastic coupling to help attach the 2 pole pieces. All metal nuts and bolts.
My table load does make a little noise and it is not bad, it sounds like I am just adjusting the box. I have loaded the tube probably 50 times and no issues. So, looks like the same product but different qualities out there. I am very happy with mine. It has never come close to failing me. Just my 2 cents.

Wayne: You certainly make it sound as though Mak has had more than one manufacturer during this products lifetime. I couldn't imagine my table holding 50 lbs. Anyway, I'm glad yours is working out and I'm disappointed that mine hasn't. I see you mention it is a Mak item....since they are supposedly wholesale (to dealers only) where did you purchase yours?

Yep, sounds like different manufactures. I got mine from a friend who runs a magic shop, he gave it to me at his price.

As a MPS owner, I laughed at the way this one looked. It does look like a cheap imitation. The table is huge and bulky. To each their own.

the tube DID NOT FIT IN THE TABLE! the screws were messed up, after 5 attempts the LATCH BROKE!!!! after a few calls I got a new table top.... the atch on that one was MADE crooked and ALSO snapped after a few attempts... this is THE worst peace of crap ive ever bought in magic.... I'm so upset! is there a version of this that is workable...and NOT 3000$ ?!?! MPS is quite expensive...this is a peace of garbage..and I really want a prediction case |
