Hey Jimmy, just a thought,.. another,.. why not work with the Sign in the beginning? I can imagine you're taking it out during your set-up anyway.
`Sign Manipulation',?,.. well, a couple of things come to mind. There's that old standard "the sign with the arrow". (Sorry, I'm unaware of the proper title). The sign is continuously turned over and over, the arrow always pointing a different direction. In the end, on the last flip, something totally different. Naturally you mustn't use an arrow. You could use words (Magic, Show, Great, Sucks, ect.); or use time (a clock showing ten minutes,.. five minutes, ect.), or colours (one side is red, one blue,... the `third side' orange). `Sign Manipulation'?,... a giant boomerang-card effect would naturally be pretty cool. How about using the Sign as you did your Gladstone Bag, a few videos back? You know, the `pantomime number' where it froze, floated, was too heavy,.. finally you `un-hooked' it. That would fit quite logically with the Sign. As well, you wouldn't need to have an audience to perform it. It's something that is happening to you. (man, combine that with a `sign levitation' at the end of the routine,.. between the two hands,... and you'd have a jaw dropper.) Someone just said, "For an opening, be interesting." I find that to be a bit bla-bla. For an opening, on the Streets, do something that interests you. This is interesting for others,... attracts. And, non-committing,.. for you or your potential audience. I think `clothing manipulation' could also hit well. You're wearing a vest, have you ever seen vest-manipulation? It's pretty cool. The vest is taking off, but always comes back on,... or vice versa. It's nice for the eyes,.. and pretty continuous. Combine it with a two coloured vest (inside/outside), you'd have a sweet piece of candy. Keep looking. Keep asking. Keep giving(!), it'll come. gallagher |

Hey Jimmy!
Great videos - thanks for posting! As someone who is only considering starting out in the world of street performing, seeing this live action footage is a big help! Thank you! Out of interest, how long did this show go on for in total? 15 minutes? 20 minutes? Just interested... Take care Mark

I shortened this show, I think it was only 15 mins.
I started crowd building the second the camera went on using the my method from my book. I usually use a coin to bring them in, but in the show I am using the stick. there was no footage edited out, that was the whole show. sometimes I do shorter ones or longer ones depending on the crowd. |

Always a pleasure to see you work, even if it's NOT in the French Quarter.

Jimmy,
you're the reason I got off the couch, swallowed the huge lump in my throat and gave street performing a chance. Your videos help a lot of us that are new to the street. Thanks
