Who is Irving Quant:
Irving Quant is a young magician with a wealth of knowledge and skill. His gusto has earned him apprenticeship with the great René Lavand. And Dan and I can say firsthand that his methods are devious and have fooled us badly. Irving’s interest and skill goes beyond his supreme legerdemain and reaches deep into presentation and psychology. His tricks pay as much homage to the most classical effects as they do to modern miracles. They are a brilliant mix of clever thinking, psychological subtlety, and technical finesse. His style is relaxed and straightforward with nothing to hide. Starting with the release of Carousel, there will be a series of releases from Irving that will provide a taste to his creative approach and repertoire. Later this year, production on a full length DVD is scheduled. All in all, Irving has a lot to offer so expect many exciting things from this young man. Carousel, the first release from Irving, is a surprisingly easy method for accomplishing an age-old card problem: 4 cards are inserted face-down into the deck and instantly transpose with 4 different cards which are now evenly distributed face-down in the deck. A seemingly impossible feat realized by Irving Quant and with “dare we say” no sleight of hand…well, almost. |

Ah... that IS creative thinking...
Thanks Dave for the informing us about Irving... I've surprisingly never heard of him before now.

I downloaded "Carousel" (Irving's first contribution on the Buck site) and at first glance it looks very nice! The method is slick and well taught! I think by the end of the weekend I'll have this effect rockin right along and I'll try to put up a review ASAP!

Very nice!!! What a beautiful effect! What I love most about that effect is that there are no funny, sped up moves. I love the climax with the kings!

Then the second phase, he put the Kings on the bottom and yet when he spread the deck, they were in four different positions. The effect you described reminded me of Earick's "Jack Syna(ps)ces", but I saw no transposition in Irving's demo. Having said that, it did look like a very well constructed piece of card magic. AP. |

You tell your spectator that you'll repeat the effect, but this time break it down into 2 steps. The first step is getting the aces out of the deck (peform the first half of Carousel) The second step is getting the kings INTO the deck. (peform second half of Carousel) |

Forget the transpo aspect- this is, as mentioned above, a wonderful two phase routine.
First you demonstrate how you can make four cards jump from separate spots in the deck to the top, then you show how you can make four cards jump back. Bam Regardless of your views on this trick, you have to admit- this is a clever clever idea. Ben

Hey thanks guys! I just took a new look at posts about this, so sorry for the delay.
Carousel is very meaningful to me because it was the first trick I created that started the whole 4x4 project for me (Agatha, Carousel, and the new DVD with "the move" on it----close friends of mine know what I'm talking about ) A recent update was made for Carousel with a no-palm method that made it even better than it was. This new method makes the trick self-working really! You can do it in the floor if you want Anyways, thanks again for all the nice comments. I really appreciate that you guys like the work and I hope that my work continues to impress you in the future. Cheers, IQ |
