Hi Everyone.
Forgive my ignorance, but there used to be an effect where you could produce SEVERAL six packs of soda or beer all at once on a small table with no body loads. Without exposing anything, The table worked similar to the appearing bowl of water. Who made this and is it still made? Thanks |

Never heard of this, there was a table full of beer glasses, and the cover was turned over to reveal a tray of glasses of beer. This was an Abbott's or Thayer product.

The effect is called Six Pack Stacks by Larry Nye, which was sold back in the late '80s. It's a terrific prop, very deceptive.
Good luck finding one, as I know you'll be happy with it. Hope this helps. Joe |

Yep, Joe has hit it on the head! It was the production of a case of sodas or beer (four six-packs). Larry Nye of the old Magic Den used to put these together and sell them. It was brilliant! It was easy to set up and easy to perform. His performance included a subtlety that had one six pack of the case on top of the other three and a can of the product (soda or beer) free to be opened and handed out (or simply used to toast the audience).
I’ve lost track of Larry since he moved from the area and don’t know if he is even into magic anymore (hard to believe he isn’t!). I believe he moved from Maryland to Florida but could be wrong. Honestly, since you know the basic workings of the prop, it should take next to nothing to make one. Your biggest difficulty is finding a seamstress to make the cloth work (unless you can sew). It will take you an afternoon to find the raw materials and put it together.

Yep, that's the last listing I have for Larry. Unfortunately AOL shut down it's "Hometown" pages and I have not found a new listing.

I'm very interested in that kind of effect since the time I read an effect by Danny Korem (Korem without limits): he produces 6 real bottles at the finale of a monte routine with a bottle and paper tube. He did'nt disclose his method though.
This seems to be a mechanical method using a table. Many years ago I purchased a trick from Mephisto Huis: that was a production of many lit candles and fireworks on a table. So, I think I'm familiar with the basic method of the six pack trick. Still I would like to have some more info. I probably can perform the trick with my table. So, please help me via PM if you can. Thanks! |

I purchased one of these from Larry when I was in junior high & have only ever performed it for family. Now that I am doing some shows, I would like to include it in my set... You are correct about Larry moving to Florida. Denny Haney confirmed that for me one time I was at his shop. I think his business is in Stuart. Larry was the one who got me started down the magical path - I would spend hours in his shop talking to him & am thankful for all the guidance he gave me. Anyhow... If nobody performs this or replies I will post the reactions I get from it as I plan to perform it at my next show (next weekend) |

Just wanted to add that I finally performed this & it got really good reactions for me. I believe it will stay in my set for most shows now...

I was looking for a picture and blurb about Larry Nye’s Six Pack Stack and stumbled or googled across these café forum posts from a while back about this effect. I have one left in stock if you are still interested in it. Thanks Vince

I worked @ Larry's Magic Den while in college. Best job ever! His Cut-A-Card and Star Trick are two if my favorites. I tried to locate him a while back and thought I had found him on facebook. I sent him a friend request but never heard from him.
