I am working on my new website. What clippings do you think should be taking out? Or what clippings you think should stay?

Mike,
The clip of the family in the restaurant was priceless. You can't PAY for better reactions than that. When adding clips to your website, that's what I would look for. Reactions! The client wants to get a feel for your personality and the reactions you can generate. That's what will get you the bookings. Also, be careful about the backgrounds you use. In some of the scenes, the background/backdrop is dark and you almost melt away. If the clip is going to be on you, make sure you stand out as much as possible. On a side note, it was a pleasure watching you perform in these clips. Clearly, you are a very engaging and energetic magician with some serious talent. Keep up the good work and all the best! Kent

Hey Dynamike, I like the second video better. The backdrop was awesome, it made you look so professional! Here are some things that I think you improve:
first of all, I didn't like the music, it isn't exciting and will probably put people into sleep. why don't you include the original sound track with real audience reactions (clapping, laughing, screaming etc), I think this will work better. secondly, I think the video was to long, a lot of your tricks in the demo were repetitive. you can definitely cut in short in 2 or so. I am guessing 80% of the views won't go beyond that. |

People will jusge you very quickly. So I looked at the opening seconds. The second clip opens stronger, in my view. Both are good, and showcase you as a talented performer. I agree with the advice to bump up your music for more impact. Tony

MIke,
I prefer the opening of the second video, but I think overall I preferred the first. One thing I didn't like about either one (and this isn't flaming) is that we've only met once but from that one meeting it's very obvious how great you are with kids. This didn't come out in either video, at least not anywhere close to how you are in real life. A talking segment would help get that across. Probably more of an answer than you're looking for, but just my 2 cents. Best, DD |

Hi Mike,
my first impression when I saw your video was: BOH! WORLDCLASS background and WORLDCLASS stlye and WORLDCLASS cool magician. So no matter what you do - the videos will do their job. Respect. My advice: Make a list of the tricks that you perform in the videos. Then call maybe 6 persons, let them watch the video together with you on youtube and while you all watch the videos those people give every trick a school grade. Just ask them to press stop after every trick and give you the mark. Then just keep those 35% of the tricks with the best school grades. And put your best tricks at the beginning and at the end of your videos. Daniel |

Hi Mike
There is some great magic on there but, the music! I was wondering why I was enjoying the magic but I was not excited. You could have some background music with the audience and you over the top. There are times when we can just see the suit, neat trick but not the one you want! Also if youhave reasonable editing software you can zoom in from the origional footage to frame you better and bigger. Out of context the streamers just look like you are throwing them out, not magic! Good stuff, just need to tighten it up. Not easy, I've got to do mine soon!

I thought I had something together at first. There are a lot of ideas that already came up for touch ups. It might take a few more weeks until I have it all together. Keep'em coming guys.

Quick question: How many chinchilla's have you lost to the cat?
Looks like you have awesome use of animals in your shows! I think you definitely show yourself with a lot of class and professionalism. I would have to agree on the music and using a bit with a live soundtrack. But if nothing changes, I'd already be sold.

I liked the dove to rabbit.
Opinions are like [blank]. Everyone has one and they are all full of [blank] I'm going through the same process you are, so please don't look at my videos and call me a hypocrite, but here some things I have learned: I know you have to use what you have, but the lighting is very bad most of the time. Maybe your editing program can "lighten" it up? I didn't connect with you because I didn't hear what was going on. Your presentation style, the audience reactions, etc are necessary for the client to like you, and they won't book you if they don't like you. I know, you've gotten lots of compliments on your video from those who have hired you, but what about the ones who didn't hire you? They'll never tell you they didn't like it. If you are wanting to 'graduate' to the next level of clientèle, you need to talk with someone who knows what they book and what they won't. In clip #1, you kept revisiting the same scenes. Show it once and leave it. That will shorten it. I didn't like your backdrop (OMG - did he actually say that?) It does look good before the show starts when the audience needs something to look at, but performing in front of it is just distracting. Plain is better, imo. Instead of all those different clips, choose 2 or 3 routines you can edit down to a 2-3 minute video. for what its worth (and maybe not even that) Wes Holly |

Members are way ahead of you in the "Tricky Business" forum. They convinced me to add a "voice over" also. One of the members are putting it together for me. This is my first time putting this on You Tube. It is new to me.

Hi,
I've just watched the clips. So much of a magicians art is in making kids laugh and in the patter we use. The first came across well if you looked at the kids' faces, but often we couldn't tell why they were feeling that way. We really need to hear you say the funny lines. You've got quite a few different outfits. How do you decide what to wear for each gig? What audience is this aimed at?
