One of my favorite close-up effects is the old Penetration Frame. I quit buying such a prop because of the lack of quality in the materials and the manufacturing of the frame. I actually bought one many years ago that would not lock in place, so that the sheet of plastic would slide without inserting a card. Others I have purchased would only partialy lock in place and a spectator, upon close examination of the prop, could slide the plastic sheet. What I have been looking for is a nice wooden frame with a sheet of plastic or glass that will withstand a good, solid, inspection. As a child in the sixties, I had a plastic frame that would pass the best of inspections. It seems as time passes by, magic props rise in price and tend to be made on the cheap. I hope that someone reading this can steer me to a dealer who can offer me a quality prop.

I have the Circle Magic metal one and it is beautiful and works great. At a higher price are wooden ones made by Owen Magic Supreme including frames that can accomodate jumbo cards.

Oh, the site takes the order and everything, even sends a confirmation, but I have yet to receive the penetration frame and don't know if my credit card was billed. I have sent a number of e-mails requesting status and confirmation, ....no reply. It has been over three weeks now. If this charge shows up on my credit card, I am really going to explode, and someone is going to pay the piper. I have again sent e-mails to Circlemagic asking about my order, and no response.

Wow! Those may be nice, but they are way out of my price range.
Thanks for the Link, appreciate the help.

I agree. I was in Owens website and the prices are ridiculous. In fact I thought the prices might be per gross or per carton.

I too had one made in the 1960s. Possiby by Royal. Kind of a purple color. I coud do it close up and on stage and always killed with it. And I still have it. You can buy cheap knockoffs for $1 and the ones in the magic marketplace sell from $3-10 but are poorly made, easy to detect and it is a shame.
And people are performing it poorly and then revealing it all over the internet. THis kd is epecially bad but his frame, though plastic, looks pretty nice and he uses cool cards. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=b1EYaTMFjvM THey all emphasize the solid glass in the center but I always tap all over the glass, not drawing special attention to the center. I also liked using a pencil with no eraser or top so I could pull it all the way through and out the other side. It was more impressive than pushing it in a few inches and backing it out. |

I apologize for resurrecting an old thread, but I'm in the market for finding a decent one of these, as I would like to use it for a lesson introduction in my Geometry class. Who currently makes the best quality one nowadays? Or barring that, does anyone have an old one that works well that they are interested in selling? Please PM me. Thank you!

If all goes well.. Wack-o-Magic will have one coming out soon a little larger than the classic one.. probably 6 x 9 or so.. and with a REAL glass pane.. it makes all the difference when the sound of the tapping is real glass

Yes! Wack-O Magic's Penetration Frame is out now in TWO styles. It's finally a frame for an adult's magic show. Beautiful real wood and glass.

I purchased the tree version and I do not think this is a quality item. My two criticisms are first, you can not place a card on both sides as you can on the cheap Royal version. Second, at least on mine, the glass does not lock in place. The picture looks better than the finished product. This is my opinion , that for the price it should have been better made.
