Are any of you familiar with a funny thumbcuff routine?
My friend Ichazod has a routine (funny), and I just wanted to know what others have come up with! Steve

Funny thumbcuff routines...Bob Brown's Off the Cuff, if performed right, can be quite hilarious! This was the first escape I ever performed.

Can anyone please tell me where I can find Bob Brown's Off The Cuff routine in print?
Or do you have a copy for sale? Thanks, Joe Marotta |

Bob Brown's Off the Cuff is a commercially marketed effect. Any magic store should either have it or be able to get it for you. Just make sure you ask for it specifically...Bob Brown's Off the Cuff thumbcuff routine, as I know there a a couple things on the market that use Off the Cuff as a title.

I've had success using thumbcuffs for a thumb tie routine, finishing with a severed thumb in the cuff and hiding my thumb behind my hand.

I loved doing the thumb cuffs until one night a friend put them on me behind my back, locked them way to tight, then trying to be funny threw the key and lost it. Lucky enough I was over at the fire dept., and a friend used bolt cutters to free me.
Not really a funny routine, just an embarrassing magic moment. If we can keep this between us, I'd appreciate it.

Perhaps you can show that friend your version of the diminishing tires using his car.

Is the Bob Brown effect a book or pamphlet which describes the patter or is there other props involved?

Hi,
There are many climaxes for the thumb cuff: Vanishing cuff Vanishing cuff combined with production of a glass filled with water. You are free and two spectators are tied. What is the effect of "Bob Brown’s Off the Cuff"? Yours faithfully :devilish: Dan |

I believe there is a good routine in the book The Magic of Alan Wakeling... actually, there are several good routines in it that don't pertain to the cuffs, but I'm sure he had one that dealt with a bag two audience members held over your hands while you tried to escape.

Steve,
I do a routine where I am cuffed and I have two helpers hold a colth on my hands. I then, pulling one hand out from under the cloth, ask the first helper to move back a bit so everyone can see. I continue to struggle...I then pull out the other hand and itch my nose. Finally I exclaime I CAN NOT GET OUT OF THE CUFFS!!! I have the cloth removed and it is seen that my pointer fingers are in the cuffs. Just my two cents Most magically yours, WR
