I did a Café search and it yielded nothing very recent, if you can point me in a direction, I would be grateful, if I may also ask, if you do have some info, please be specific, simply due to the fact that I do not know all there is to know in the world of magic, it's been over 30 years and I'm still finding out quite a lot, thanks Dave.

Walther, I did see this and intersesting is Wayne Dobson has an old video that is amazing and yet on his web site he is selling the Mikame.I would like to know if anyone has used this, it looks like you need a good size block of wood for the paper.

Tony Clark has a great methiod on one of his videos. No gimmick - use an ordinary table knife.

For years I would carry little plastic tips from transparent forks in my wallet so that I could perform a knife through coat impromptu -- with a magazine page for cover as described in Tarbell. I quit doing it when people quit wearing jackets, but it alwasy drew shocked amazement.
So, why are you looking for new method?

Best routine I saw was by Bob Read.
ordinary knife, and a piece of newspaper. |

Magic Inc. sells a manuscript of the late Jay Marshall method. Use any pockst knife, I think it is one of his videos as well.
I believe the late Bob Read method is on one of his videos of his material that was made after his death. Pete Biro's version is good to show the blade actully through the jacket material. |

The Tony Clark method is a bonus effect on his In/Out rope escape DVD (I think it is anyway).
Its dead easy. Uses any knife, any sheet of paper and any jacket or coat. I was tempted by the Mikame version. But watching Tony perform his version on the DVD looks exactly the same as Mikame's. Only Tony's is 100% impromptu. And doesn't have to cost you anything (apart from the DVD of course) because its all borrowed!

Mikame version does not allow much opportunity for comedy as discribed in the late Bob Read version. Having to have the use the wood paper holder limits free handling and adding the comedy bits to the routine.
Recommeded versions are Jay Marshall's version for the price of an instruction sheet. Use your own pocket knife. The Harrison version that Pete Biro has brought back on the market is the other recommendation. It allows visual penetration of the knife and actually seeing the knife blade poking through the coat. Also recommended is the other Mikame version that is currently being sold by Stevens Magic. It is short bladed letter opener type knife that allows the blade to be seen through the coat. Jan's was really SCARY... and you could hurt yourself, but it WAS AWESOME. The Mikame could be good, altho the knife is kind of goofy looking. A good performer could get a lot out of it.
Close up? Glenn Haywood used to have a seated woman spread her knees and he'd to the knife thru her skirt, between her knees. You had to have the right crowd, but it was great to see him do it.
