What's the best way to get the ink off the face of a card? I need to remove parts of some cards (not all the ink, though) for an effect I'm working on. I can erase it off pretty good with a standard eraser but it takes forever, and I need to do it to an entire deck. I've heard that some nail polish remover works, but I would think too much of that stuff would warp the cards. Any ideas? Thanks in advance.

Try using 100% Acetone, which is found in the same section of the drug store where nail polish remover is sold. You will want to experiment with small quantities on a cotton ball and wipe off the card and then let the card dry. I have used this method to prepare blank cards to print on. Hope this helps.

You can buy an electric eraser at an art supply store.

I've heard that Isopropyl alcohol works wonders for this.

I like Pete's suggestion and if you can get it with ink eraser heads I'd bet the work would be quick and simple not to mention having more control for detail work!

Pete, you're a genius. That would be perfect for what I need to do, and actually give me a lot more control. Thanks!

I'm with Pete & Mike.
I've used 100% acetone to remove the finish on blank facers, and it works well (though the absorbent surface left behind is difficult to do anything with). When I've tried it as an experiment on a printed card the colours smeared all over the place. |

Alcohol and acetone are terrible because it burns and strips the finish off the cards.
I vote for an eraser and take your time. It is a slow painful process....all fast methods that I have seen will ruin the finish on the cards or warp the card.

Wouldn't an ink eraser also remove the finish on the cards?
Magic is a vanishing art.
