Hey guys,

Is it possible to do a snowstorm in china without the fan and just rub both hands together really hard and fast?

Thanks,
Danny

Sure, or you could try blowing on your hands.

Or you could spend several hundred dollars and buy Kevin James Snow Animator.

But will it actually work if I just blow on the snowstorm packet in my hands...without having my lungs die?

Sorry to be so blunt in the last post but take some tissue paper cut it up real small and rub it with your hands and blow. it wont be spectacular in any way.

here are a few ideas from my lecture about the snow storm.

ideas with out a fan
1. use a balloon
2. shop vac
3. kevin james snow animator
4. use an actual Fan
5. use a tray like one form Micky d's

if you have any other questions just ask you can also do a search for my pod cast on the snow storm and hopefully after the new year my new DVD will be out on the snow storm.

good luck.

by the way what is the idea you are shooting for maybe that wodul be helpful for us to give you some suggestions too.

Thanks a lot!

I want to use it to end my card manipulation routine, but I do not want to use a random fan. I want to rip up a last card and turn it into a snow storm.
By the way? What do you mean by using a balloon?

ideas with out a fan
1. use a balloon

Here is what you can do.

buthte card fan to top hat. use the card fan to fan the torn up card "snow storm packet" (byt he way when yo buy snow storms buy th em from Seo magic they sell the best) teh after the snow is going up inthe air toss the card fan up and it turns into a top hat instantly and put it on your head or turn it over and drop out the electric deck.

the balloon idea came from a Silly routine I wANted to do and had a really really big balloon about 4' in diamater it was like a giant snow globe I turned it over and untied it and it blew the snow up into the air. never fully finished it as my snow storm took a whole different route and has been my closer for 15 years in over 3000 shows. that's a lot of snow!

by the way I still use the giant balloon in my show jsut in a different way now.

good luck

In the June Linking Ring Parade, I wrote about an old lecture of mine. In that lecture I suggested using Photographic "dust-off" cannister. A tube goes from the can to your hand. You hold the snowstorm with one hand with the dust off tube behind it and up your sleeve. You other hand presses the cannister which lets the air flow across the palm and flurries the snow.

but magicians is right it does work. you do not get the hight you would with a fan but it does create a nice effect.

In my old act I used to end my opening with snowstorm and instead of a fan I used a jumbo playing card from another trick called "Mis-Made Queen"...this a a $20 jumbo Zig-Zag card trick. Since I already used the zigzag card earlier in the routine it was only natural to pick it back up later and use it as a fan for the snowstorm in the end.

Card fan to top hat is nice, I've got to play with one but it is a bit costly if I remember correctly.

You then sweep it up into a dustpan and then turn it into a multi-colored streamer, at which point you produce anything you want from the streamer.

If you want to use it for a card finale, how about producing a jumbo fan of cards and then switching (accomplished when you put down the jumbo fan of cards to tear up the playing card) the loose fan for a glued together fan of cards, to fan the torn pieces.

I originally used it to blow up a #11 clear in the beginning of my kids shows. Also, twistees. I put the balloon in my mouth and the balloon in the hand blows up. David Ginn got one from me (can, tube and instructions) in the late 70's.

Amazing, I just watched an old video of Pete Biro's card in balloon, doing the balloon from the sleeve bit I just described.
Hey Pete, what year was that??
