I have been doing walk around, close up, restaurant and party effects and now I am trying to put together a small stage show perhaps and need a mixture of metalism, comedy and smaller illusions (can't afford the big items yet!).
I am looking for audience participation and would enjoy if these new stage or closeup effects can be examined (although its not needed). I am looking for some easy to understand and perform items, along with reactions that are of such with a big illusion setup. After about 3 hours of research I have come up with a list of what seems to be the items I would like to add to my show and of course, if I have missed anything please chime in if you know of something I have missed! Please help me to choose which of these would be a easy learning curve, great reactions, good quality and worth the money. So I am asking all of my peers here, if you have any of these, could you give a small review COMPARED to the other effects on the list - I was thinking about. MIRACLE CASSETTE PREDICTION - I do not have any big prediction effects presently. TIME WATCH (time machine type effect) - I have never worked with this type of effect. EXECUTIVE BRIEFCASE (bowling ball production (or other big items?)- again, never worked with this type of effect. MINI SMASH AND STAB (or similar effect) - obviously its "mini" and not for stage use, however, I was thinking of going into the audience and performing this in the middle aisles? Head Effects (swords through, twister, etc) - a comedy bit I was hoping for, but also something I could add to more of an adult show. Childs Play 3 - this is not for stage, but would be something I am interested in for my normal gigs. Head Rush - Looks neat, bit pricey. Light Heavy Box - I think I have made up my mind to get one of these after reading reviews on the forum of Gimpy. Shrinking and Growing Head - Again, another I have made my mind up to get. Collard - After researching this, not sure if I want this exact one, however getting one with a better impression would be ideal. Cry Baby -? Pro Viper 3 - I like this idea - but not sure if it's worth the money? Facelifter by Andrew Mayne THANKS guys and gals) |

Lot's of various stuff is difficult to theme into a meaningful presentation. Looks like you may wind up being a demonstrator of magic tricks.
You need to let it evolve. Asking a question like this will confuse you even more since every answer will be different and provide you with various philosophys etc. j |

Well obviously I am not going to have all of these effects on stage, I am just looking to know which of you would buy what and why would you buy it compared to the other items.

Hi Chrispa,
I have a few things that may fit your criteria. Here are links to the threads for them. Mentalists Dream Box. http://www.themagiccafe.com/forums/viewt......m=109&42 Serial Killer http://www.themagiccafe.com/forums/viewt......orum=109 Versatile production screen. http://www.themagiccafe.com/forums/viewt......orum=109 I also have a few others as well. Of course, it all depends on what you are trying to achieve for your show. The nice thing is these can be modified based on the performance situation. Best regards, Max

On this one, I vote with John. Plan your show that flows before selecting the props. Normally, I do the next effect with what was left in my hands from the last one.

Hello
I have had really good response from some of the classics, Linking Rings, Silk to Egg, Cut & Restored Rope, and color changing silk effects The nice thing is you can perform these for 10 people or 100 people. There is a great deal of info on these effects and plenty of room for audience participation. The other thing that has worked for me is to take some of your walk around effects and turn them to to stage effects. Get out from behind your table walk into the audience and perform right at their table. Good luck and have fun!!! Also you will be more happy in the long run if you build your show around effects that pack small and possible into one case. I would stay away from most of the box type tricks and apparatus.
