After Zakk Wylde was fired by useless sell-out Ozzy Osbourne last summer, my first thoughts were "Good, now he can concentrate on Black Label Society." Unfortunately, he was hospitalized in August for blood clots which travelled through his heart and lungs.
He is still being monitored under home care but can not tour.
I really hope he recovers both for himself and for the rest of the world to experience his amazing skills.

Zakk is one of those guys who I admire far more than I like.

Great technique and fabulous tone. Just don't dig the music that much.

Hope he recovers speedily, as well. Good guitarist, and I like the BLS sound.

But Ozzy > Zakk. Yesterday, today, and tomorrow.

Guess they forgot to tell Bill Buckley.

Okay, I'm probably being a bit hard on Ozzy. I still like the dudes singing.
I will say this though, Zakk Wylde wrote most of "No More Tears" and it was a great album. In my opinion, it was one of the greatest albums of all time.
But then Ozzy kept Zakk Wylde out of the writing process on "Down to Earth," and, also my opinion, that was the single worst album of Ozzy's entire career.
Randy Rhoads will always be the best guitarist who ever played with Ozzy, but since then it's all Zakk.
His guitar solo on "Live at Budokan" is what I wait for every time I watch that dvd.

Again, I wish him and his family all the best.

Ozzy didn't write most, if any, of his good material. I actually was wondering why he is considered a music writer, I love the dude though.

Zakk and I used to take lessons the same night from a local guitarist years ago and I remember when he said Zakk was gonna get the Ozzy gig. Sure enough, he did. Zakk was already doing his thing as was I but we both ended up sitting with this local guy for some time to help us out further.Zakk has great tone and once is health is on track he will be back out there doing his thing.

Cool. My uncle and his wife run a music school over in Boise. He's awesome in that technical, John Petrucci sort of way. Not my style, but still impressive.

Since I'm doing shameless plugs for my family today, here's a link to my uncle's music website:
